York's Dan Wilson is the league's top batsman with 677 runs |
Harrogate beat Scarborough by eight runs to claim their first Yorkshire Premier League win of the season. Harrogate's 200 all out did not look enough, James Finch taking 3-58 and Simon Tennant 3-69. But tight bowling from David Stiff and Jonathan Taylor kept the visitors down to 192-9. Harrogate chairman Miles Rawlings was relieved at his side's first victory. "The total wasn't really enough," he said, "but we bowled very well." Harrogate picked up six points, as did York who beat Yorkshire Academy by 27 runs at Clifton Park to stay second. York's Dan Wilson kept up his sensational form with 142 in York's 308-6. The Academy reached 281-8. Wilson has now amassed 677 runs in just seven Yorkshire Premier League matches and could reach 1,000 runs in record time. Alex Collins made 47 and Nick Kay 69 not out. The Academy made a fist of it but two wickets each from Wilson, skipper Marcus Wood and the recalled Rob Flack kept York on course for another win. All-rounder Kay said: "It was close for a while but we fielded outstandingly well."
