Defending Yorkshire Premier League champions York moved 14 points clear of Scarborough after beating Hull by 82 runs at Clifton Park on Sunday. Duncan Snell scored 71 and Dan Wilson made 106 to pass 1,000 runs for the season as York piled up 290-4. Wilson then took four wickets as Hull's last pair held on for three overs to finish on 208-9 and take one point. Scarborough lost heavily to Castleford, who posted 240-8 at North Marine Road, Scarborough were dismissed for 114. Scarborough's Simon Tennant took 4-76 and Kunwar Bansil scored 61 but from 46-6 there was little hope of victory.  | We've taken 14 points from the weekend, I think we'd have taken that at the start of it |
Meanwhile Harrogate stayed adrift at the bottom with 17 points after losing to Appleby Frodingham at St Georges Road. The Scunthorpe side made 210 with Simon Seager taking 5-54 and David Stiff 3-51. After a bad start Harrogate's middle-order batsmen Nick Lindley and Ross Sedgley made 62 and 29 respectively but 'Gate were all out for 166 and lost by 44 runs. Harrogate Chairman Miles Rawlings said: "We had a stand in the middle between Lindley and Sedgley which looked like taking us there but then Sedgley got out." York's six-point win moved them on to 83 points at the top after 16 games, with Scarborough on 69 and Castleford on 67. York batsman Simon Mason said he had wanted the full eight points: "[The last three overs] were pretty frustrating but we've taken 14 points from the weekend, I think we'd have taken that at the start of it."
