Why did you pick this subject for Fresh?
Working with people who can be trusted to work hard and be punctual will make a production that much better
Roller Derby is an exciting, innovative and athletic sport and I wanted to get the word out about it.
What motivated you to make this film?
After finding out that a friend played the sport I was intrigued and decided to do some research. I was immediately drawn into the high octane action and wanted to document in the ins and outs of this growing sport.
What equipment did you use to shoot the film?
The primary camera was a Panasonic AF101 and several Go-Pros. The audio equipment used was a Sennheiser K6 and lapel mic.
Tell us about post-production.
I edited the film myself, primarily using Adobe Premiere Pro but also Photoshop, Audition and After Effects.
Who/what inspires you?
My biggest inspirations are writers such as John Sullivan and Vince Gilligan, directors such as Robert Zemeckis and Judd Apatow and documentary makers such as Louis Theroux.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are to keep enjoying the film making process and develop my skills in the field.
What is the most important thing you have learned so far?
Finding a crew that you know you can rely on is important. Working with people who can be trusted to work hard and be punctual will make a production that much better.
