Profile: Nzimah Akpan

Nzimah explored his love of athletics in his film This is Home.

Why did you pick this subject for Fresh?

I picked this subject got fresh in response to how the Olympics has changed sports in the UK.

What motivated you to make this film?

My love for sport and my love for filming.

What equipment did you use to shoot and edit the film?

It was shot on Canon 600D and Canon 60D cameras with 50mm, 75-300mm, 24-105mm and 18-55mm lenses. The edit was done with Final Cut Pro X. When I filmed the documentary I set the camera to neutral colour setting so when I was colour grading it I would be able to get a much sharper colour. I also did the sound mixing myself.

Who/what inspires you?

My love for creating fantastic videos. It's like art to me.

What are your plans for the future?

To work with the BBC or set up my own production company.

What is the most important thing you have learned so far?

The most important thing I have learned is if your film has no meaning then it is a pointless, meaningless video.
