| About Katie Hall | I'm a mild punk-rocker who has been enjoying the delights of Nottingham over the past three years in the ways that students generally do. My first love was Zappa the cat, named after his highness Frank. My second is my dad's vinyl collection. |
Victoria has been modelling for 14 years, quite an achievement for a 23 year old. She has been on the catwalk and in catalogues since the age of nine, and has never tired of the modelling life. Entering the Miss Nottingham contest seemed a logical step, and to win would be a change in luck – "I've never won anything before." "I would be very proud to be representing Nottingham, it would mean so much to me. If I won I would try and make Miss Nottingham a much better known event, because not many people seem to have heard of it." | | Victoria Garland |
Victoria believes that the eventual Miss Nottingham 2005 would have a responsibility to her community as it is more than simply a beauty contest: "If I won I'd make sure that the people of Nottingham knew that there is someone they can talk to about issues they want to get in the public eye; Miss Nottingham is a representative of the people." Her idea of a perfect day in Nottingham would be to "spend the day in Wollaton Park enjoying the sun, and then to head down to the waterfront and try out a few bars in town." But she thinks Nottingham's finest asset is it's population: "I love the people. I think that Nottingham's people keep themselves to themselves, but at the same time are really welcoming to outsiders. Everyone from Nottingham is proud to be from here." Victoria believes her bubbly personality will give her the edge over the other contenders. "Bubbliness is my talent. The competition is not only about looks, although that is a part of it. You've also got to have something different about you, it's about how you communicate with people you've never met before." Some typical beauty pageant questions… 10 years from now… I want to have fulfilled my ambitions. I want to travel the world, especially to go to Fiji. It's a totally different world, and I want to experience the other side. Once I've done that I'd like to settle down and have children. If I could change one thing about the world… I'd get rid of poverty or crime. Nottingham is trying to sort out its crime issues now which is good.
