Rebecca Draper, Miss Nottingham 2005 finalist

Interview with Katie Hall
Rebecca Draper, 18, from Wollaton in Nottinghamshire, is at present on a gap year.

About Katie Hall

I'm a mild punk-rocker who has been enjoying the delights of Nottingham over the past three years in the ways that students generally do. My first love was Zappa the cat, named after his highness Frank. My second is my dad's vinyl collection.

Rebecca Draper, 18, is determined to make it in the world of modelling, but found herself in the final of Miss Nottingham because of her mother's pride!

"My mum put me forward because although I want to try and make a go of it as a model, and I'm going to some agency castings in London next week, my mum wanted to kick-start me into action."

Rebecca believes becoming Miss Nottingham would be a great start to her career, and she thinks she would be good for Nottingham too: "It'd be really cool to represent Nottingham. I think being Miss Nottingham would be a good way for me to get people involved in their community. I'm one of those people who's really get up and go, if I put my mind to something I'll do it. So I'd be determined to raise the profile of Miss Nottingham, I've not really seen the previous winner about so I'd definitely like to use it to better advantage."

Ordinarily Rebecca spends her days working at her father's shooting range and shooting pigeons (clay ones!). But her perfect day in Nottingham would involve a bit more peace and quiet: "I would start off with a walk in Wollaton Park, as I go there quite a lot with my mates. Then I'd probably go into town for a bit of shopping and maybe something nice to eat… and then in the evening just go out in town. I love the nightlife in Nottingham, I enjoy going out, particularly to The Living Room and the Market Bar."

Some typical beauty contest questions...

10 years from now… I'll hopefully have a good job, either modelling in London or taking over my dad's business. Generally I want to be a successful business woman… but still have time to potter around the place.

If I could change one thing about the world… I would want equality in the world, I don't want people dying of starvation or disease.
