| About Katie Hall | I'm a mild punk-rocker who has been enjoying the delights of Nottingham over the past three years in the ways that students generally do. My first love was Zappa the cat, named after his highness Frank. My second is my dad's vinyl collection. |
High flying contender Situl is proud of a lot of things, but most importantly she is proud of her city, Nottingham, and believes she would represent it at its best. "I actually studied for a year in London, for my law degree, and then transferred to Nottingham and it was so great. I found a whole new side to Nottingham and hanging out with people who had moved here from other places but loved it too gives me a real sense of pride! I want to do it justice, and I want to show people that it's a really nice place to live. There's a huge focus on crime in Nottingham but having lived here all my life it has never impacted on my life, so I want to show people the truth about the place." | | Situl Kaur |
For Situl the truth is that it is a nice city to lead a flexible, relaxing lifestyle, with nightlife to suit anyone: "My perfect day in Nottingham would start off, not too early, with some lunch at The Living Room. Then I'd move on to some shopping with friends to places I wouldn't normally go. After that I'd take a break and get ready for my night out when I'd go and eat some more and then go to places like Geisha, or Saltwater, places where you can chat with friends, where its not too rowdy." The 20 year old student boasts of her ability to juggle, but she plans on juggling more than just oranges in her life: "I've just finished my Legal Practice Course, and I've worked very hard to become a solicitor, but I've always loved the idea of modelling or acting. If something like that took off I have to admit I'd choose it over law." Situl hopes that Miss Nottingham will be a move in the right direction, although it is not her first step into the world of beauty pageants, having been in the Miss Maya heats last year: "I really wanted to do that because the focus is on Indian clothing which is great. After my good experience with that I decided to go for Miss Nottingham and I'm really glad I got through to the final 12. To win would be a really big achievement." Typical beauty contest questions: Greatest talent? I've taken flying lessons. The best thing about flying is knowing that you're in control of the plane, and flying over places you've seen on the ground is amazing because they look so different, places like Newstead Abbey look beautiful from the sky. If I could change one thing about the world… I'd have to get rid of prejudices… racial, ageist, any sort of discrimination. People need to realise that everyone is a person, regardless. |
