I remember our junior school play Christmas 1976 was "old Time Music Hall" and our class did "Where did you get that hat?" the girlies had posh dresses on and had to be escorted round the stage by a boy, particularly awkward as at the age of 8 and 9 boys were still annoying!



Missed out on Aladdin the following year but was Charlie Bates the year after in Oliver! Loved being in school plays as it was exciting staying up past 9 when we had evening performances!

PS Re The Good Old Days, I do remember it being on (usually when the 'old folks were around - grandparents) there was little choice in those days, not like today's TV - we're overloaded with options.

Anyone keeping up with Dallas? We just watched ep 2 last night (watch-again facility) and Mr e said 'it's a bit of a soap opera isn't it'? (DOH) and he was a BIG fan back in the day..

He suggested we play the 'Dallas drinking game' as they used to, to make watching it more interesting:

When a character holds or drinks an alcoholic drink then the person watching who is 'representing' that character gets to have a slug of a drink - of their choosing (I would think Sue Ellen would be a popular character to choose out of the bag)....nb I think Sue Ellen is going to slide back into drinking when she realises that JR is still the same old evil JR he always was.

Compared to slick drama we are now used to (like Good cop, The Accused etc) it's all a bit dated and stagey but can only presume that it what they were going for in a retro way.

#35 October 19th, you say? I wonder if my social secretary (Lady C) has anything pencilled in for that evening. I rarely get the opportunity to get 80 minutes to listen to anything undisturbed these days...



Not that I'm at all unfamiliar with the album, of course - my Mum was a fan and it was regularly on the old reel-to-reel when I was still in short trousers. And being a fan of the pastiche, I also like the Big Daddy version and the Rutles' take on Sgt Pepper/With A Little Help From my Friends.



Less so the soundtrack to the rather awful movie version...

#45 - Sir C, I chose Sgt Pepper not only because it is so widely known but also because I think there may be a lot of people out there who have it and have never (or rarely) listened to it all the way through. There's a lot of nice trivia bits to throw into the evening as well. I managed to get a copy off eBay which had the cut out moustaches still intact!



The audience then chooses the LP for the next evening a month later. Each quarter will bring Singles Night and rather than speed dating will be a chance to celebrate the humble 45 once a quarter - people will bring in their favourite/first 45 and we'll choose a favourite!

3-worder just read out.... 'luscious juicy blackberries' just picked quite a few along the edge of a harvested field beside me and they're always big and juicy, probably because they are south facing and when the wheat and barley is fertilised, the blackberry bushes and elderflowers/elderberries get fertilised too as those little white pellety things are spread all over the place... shame we don't make elderflower/elderberry wine these days as they've also been in abundance this year.

We were lucky enough to get tickets in the draw, but it was back in the days when hubbs worked nights and he couldent get the time off :-( Ended up giving the tickets to my sister who took an imediate disliking to Paloma because she had (my sisters words here) 'the audacity to sing a Doris Day song'. Personally I think Paloma is the 'Beezz Knees' and to this day wish Id been there.

That, Boys and Girls of the Blog, was my first full on mensh, for Mr Kite, as 'Jeffrey In Maidenhead' since abandoning 'Rostronposkett'. I thought it would never happen espeically since I had an Andy Murray 'Finally' played as my given name via FB the other day. Well done to Jennie for losing weight already... wish I could lose some weight but I enjoy and eat far too much chocolate, doughnuts, Maltesers, brownies, chips, bacon rolls and cheese to name some fattening favourites and I could do with a job that doesn't involve sitting all the time... so well done Jennie... Hello y'all... Nice to see you all too. I am still wandering the globe - will probably log in from Trinidad tomorrow, though back to work and so probably at an ungodly hour. I haven't heard from Le Snapper or Katy for a while, so will see if I can find them in another place and point them back this way. I am back in the UK on Saturday, so this is my bit of Noisy Ammo Blog Freedom! See you all soon....:0)

Chips & cheese (not together generally) & tiny amounts of red wine my downfalls Flo. You can keep the sweet stuff though. For a nation that almost worships the potato the Irish are rubbish at making chips (probably a good thing).



Agreed, would love a job that didn't involve sitting at computer all day.

And butter, but it has to be rock hard from the fridge & toast etc has to be stone cold.

Another weakness of mine is a Cheese (or Dairylea cheese spread) sandwich with cheese and onion crisps inside, also salted peanuts or cashews, and bags of fruit and nuts! Best go to bed and not own up to any more bad habits... especially crisps or Pringles I eat when drinking wine and watching TV!

Good morning - gosh it's early! I really don't do mornings this early.

Florence - I had to go to a group to lose the weight. I try at home, which is obviously cheaper, but the willpower is non-existant. The group stimulus certainly works for me but I think it could also be fear at the dreaded weigh-in!



And I had a small glass of wine every evening last week! It's not all bad!

Frosty, Shona? It's cold here but not that cold... maybe the sea air 'melts' the frost on the coast... nice and sunny though, so not a bad start to the day. Yes, my 3-worder, after I had been picking blackberries on my dog walk in the afternoon. :o)



When I hear Simon say 'Deborah', it reminds me of the Pulp song, 'Disco 2000'

I'm here too - making an early start as I've got lots to do.



Re bad eating habits, I'm not really a snacker but I must confess to being a bit of a chocoholic - the good quality stuff mind you, preferably from Switzerland or Belgium... And I'm also partial to an occasional glass or two of wine, and if I open it while I'm cooking I find myself reaching for a handful of peanuts or a chunk of cheese to go with it...
