A winter of discontent
Hello bloggers of the drivetime collective. A sunny Thursday is a beautiful thing and that is what we have on the estate. The foxes are all gone, the grass is cut and binmen are due. And while it is true that child 3 went to school with damp socks as I had forgotten to hang up the washing, their won't be any repercussions till tomorrow. The feet will be steaming nicely by now but I'm working late on the Jo Whiley Hyde Park special tonight from 8. So trenchfoot might have broken out in north London but I will have important Tom Jones links to prepare. Not sure NHS Direct will be any use here but hopefully all will be well and dried out by the time I return. Ho hum.
I'm hoping for pizzas on the JW show in the 1 hour gap between the 2 shows but it might be just biscuits and tea as Nigel will be performing today. It's cold Chinese and chicken something-or-other which will doubtless become a feast in Nige's capable hands.
Also today lets have RICHARD THE THIRD oldies. This is just a terrific story whereby the Plantagenet king appears, possibly, to have spent 5 centuries buried in what is now a Leicester car park. We know the man was rich, died in battle and had curvature of the spine; he now goes for some DNA tests. So before it all comes back proving that it is a 19th century baker from Felixstowe, we will do songs for Richard the Third. King for 2 years, last one to die in battle and according to Shakespeare 'a poisonous hunch-backed toad' Who'd have thought.
Have an energised and sparkling Thursday, see you after 5 and then at 8. Good grief.

It is very nice to be back on the blog - but - in a different way - it was nice to listen to the show over the last three nights without even knowing what the theme was - let alone knowing what you had all suggested.
"The Move" went very well indeed. The only really traumatic bit was forcing the two cats into their individual carriers and then putting them in the car to bring them here. The older one -13 - hates his carrier when he has to go to the vet and scratches away at the grill making his claws bleed - alternately screaming and hyperventilating.
It was only a short journey - thankfully - and they are both fine now. They're doing their thing now - working out which window oversees what - and piecing it together in their heads. They have actually asked to go outside, but several more days yet before that.
Broadband was another problem - it's taken almost 4 days to settle down!
Happy Birthday to Andy!
Happy Birthday to Sally Traffic!
Happy Birthday to Jasper Cat!
And Congrats to Zo(e) on your mensh!

#68 Autumn Gail - good luck at your "I'm fit - but going to get fitter" classes!
#50 Jennie - Cake?

Happy birthday Andy, Sally and Jasper. Did I hear Simon say Happy 35th Birthday to Sally? Surely a tongue in cheek remark ;)

Happy birthday to Jasper the Cat. So that's how old in cat years? If he was a dog it would be 35 - think it's about the same for cats. So very much in the prime of cathood...
Well dones for menshes to Zo - Simon's having fun with our names this week, isn't he - and also to Andy for Elvis Costello. Enjoyed the show today, and for once I managed to hear most of it.
#66 Did somebody say something...?
Anyway, time I was off to bed. Night all. I won't be around tomorrow, so play nicely. I'm going to Salford.

So tired this morning, didnt sleep well at all, which will teach me to eat protine filled food close to bedtime. Really, it was the peanuts not the wine, honest.
