Thanks for the mensh for U2 last night on my first day back. Am feeling greatly aligned, as my Troggs suggestion was also played with a nice mensh for Vildeen.



And was Cuddy Toy (after the 6pm news) also a feem toon? Great choice which brought a smile to my face when I heard it.



The Goods are off to the Paralympics on Fri - we attended several events in July, but couldn't get tickets into the stadium for the Olympics, so this is our way to savour the atmosphere there.

I suspect weve had our final good day of weather for the holidays. It was yesterday and we used it to go to the beach one last time. Still trying to get the sand out of my hair (on 2nd wash now), its a wonder theres any sand left on the beach the amount in my car and on my personal self. Still I guess im nicely exfoliated now.



Off on a final search for disco lights today, getting a bit desperate now. Really dont want to buy new ones for the shindig on friday. (whatever happened to someone else organising this thing?).

*I heard on the tv the other day that the blades used by the runners are not allowed to be developed any further for competing against able-bodied athletes as they could provide an unfair advantage. Apparently this is not the case when all competitors are using them, however, and the technology and engineering is progressing all the time; so, does this mean we could see a sub 9.5 sec 100m in the Paralympics before it's achieved in the Olympics? How exciting!

While on the subject of Olympics...



Bingo Star's Quest Ter Become An Olympic Track Cyclist By 2016 DAY 16 (Tuesdee):



Slowly me muscles in me legs are getting firmer/ stronger!!!!!!!

Even though ave not been doing a smuch cycling as in the past... Me strength in me legs was not as strong... Me leg muscles sort of sleeping/ went softer/ smaller!!!!!!!!

But it's amazing 'ow yer body changes so fast if yer put the work in.... It's like waking up me sleeping muscles!!!!!!!!!!!



Yesterdee a cycled 'ome from work and although off to a start were a felt abit weak... tired after working all weekend.... A felt a determination take over me!!!!!!!!

A thought a can getta decent time 'ere!!!!!!!!!

Timing me ride on me 'mytracks' app!!!!!!!



As a got more into the ride a got faster... faster.... ignoring the pain and breathing more 'ard than a needed too ter try and get extra oxygen in me system!!!!!!!!!



Near the end of me ride is the killer 'ill.... that just the thought makes me ill!!!!!!!

It's notta mountain climb... ok... BUT... it is a steady 'alf a mile continuous upward 'appening that rises 125 feet!!!!!!!!!

Not good when am knackered after a long day at work and 5 miles inter me fast cycling!!!!!!!!!

But bit by bit am getting fitter and stronger!!!!!!!

A normally 'it the bottom of the 'ill flat out in top gear (26mph-ish).... power up it maybe 80 metres until the 'ill bites 'ard and me legs and lungs lose the fight.... me speed dies and a end up cycling at about 10mph all the way to the top.... Stubbonly refusing ter drop a gear despite the pain in me leg mucles!!!!!!!

Mind over matter!!!!!!!

Last night a powered up the 'ill better than ever before.... a got a further 50 metres until me fitness died..... and kept going at about 12 ter 15mph all the way up.... breathing like a mad man in madness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a got near the top a was telling meself wow this could be a good time!!!!!!!!!!

So a gave it all inter the final mile of me ride now in me 'ome town!!!!!!!!!



A was in such pain.... Struggling for breath but a 'ad ter fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



No gain without pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



The words of Mo Farah keep going through me 'ead: "it's simply all 'ard graft... That's all it is ter get ter the top!!!!!!"



A flew inter the final straight like it was the end of the Tour deFrance!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (be it about 2,00miles less though what a 'ad just done!!)...........



A stopped.... quickly stopped me stop watch app on me mobile phone..... This could be me best ever time.... me best ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



A looked...... Some may remember a wrote about me new best time last week in which on the 23rd a did it in 21minutes 48 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

21minutes........ 55 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



Only 7 seconds off a new personal best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



And despite a sluggish start for the first mile!!!!!!!!!!!



Am so a'ppy with this as it shows am getting better.... am sure the time will keep coming down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



But what is the limit on my bicycle I have now!!!!!!!!!



Absolute top speed is 30mph.... That's turning the pedlas till me feet are nearly flying off them!!!!!!!!!!



A few days ago a drove 'ome in me car and experimanting a did 30mph exactly the whole way.... using me timing app again!!!!!!!!!

A did it in 15minutes 49 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But this is impossible to do on my bike.... I'd 'ave ter be Superman ter cycle flat at 30mph for the whole route!!!!!!!!



Realistic a think is 18 minutes which would be superfit with immense strength in me legs!!!!!!!!!!



The only way a could do it faster than 15 minutes 49 would be buy a top of the range superlight racing cycle.... similar ter Bradley Wiggans rides and only if me fitness was 100 times improved from what a am now!!!!!!!!!



Onwards and upwards..... Am serious about Rio 2016!!!!!!!!

I'm sure no harm was meant - the problem with the written word is that it's not always possible to see the tongue firmly in the cheek... things do sometimes get misinterpreted. The Robin Ince interview was fantastic tonight. Funny & insightful. He was talking about technology narrowing the urban / rural divide. I can't imagine living "in the middle of nowhere" without the internet.

RadMac on 6 Music had Marc Almond on this afternoon and played Soft Cell's Torch. Discussion of the closing bit there too, think Marc said it was perhaps a french horn not a flugelhorn. Random I know, just stuck in my head.



I'm enjoying tweeting through the opening ceremony. Seems inconceivable to watch something important & not share it on twitter.



John Inverdale obviously liked his apple core joke he did with Simon, he used it again during the coverage tonight.

Good to see CERN represented at the opening ceremony tonight but a missed opportunity to use the Higgs Boson joke I think.

And Perfect_Circles's ex-pupil, Irish sprint double gold medalist Jason Smyth got a mention on the TV coverage. Racing on Friday so not at the ceremony. I got to meet him & hold his 2 Beijing gold medals 4 years ago, fantastic experience. Go Jason!!
