But the one day am not working is terdee aka Friday... aka demolishion derby day as I call it on the roads added with a Bank 'olidee weekend.... So the last thing a wanter be doing is driving me truck terdee when everyone else... Is errrrr trying ter drive... aka stuck in a jam!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And a ain't talking the in a jar type).



Ken - Just wanted ter say thanks for the advice about the cycle trainer... Been noting it all down and yes they are a fanstic idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ave noticed all the pros use them ter warm up before an event at an event... like the Olympics!!!!!!!!

Googled them and a see Machine Mart ave some at only 60 quid area!!!!!!!!!!!

A agree yer would work up a 'ell of a sweat a there's no wind ter cool yer down too if yer using it indoors.... A could see mesen using it in the yard outside aslong a sit's not raining!!!!!!

Great idea as the time wasted travelling ter the gym... Could be used cycling at 'ome... and away from the nutters on the roads!!!!!!!!

Only been taking me cycling extra serious for just over a week and me times are coming down already!!!!!!!

It's free and can be used for anyone from walking, walking the dog, jogging, cycling or evne in the car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just turn on the recording mode... Off yer go and at the end turn off recording, save and yerv got yer top speed, average speed... a trace on a map of exactly where yerv been, yer distance and elevation over the whole journey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A recommend it ter everyone reading this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ave found me daily cycle ter work is 6.10 miles... bit less than a thought!!!!!!!



Anyway am ranging from 28minutes going into a strong 'eadwind... and although the whole route is up and down small inclines all the way... it's a 350' climb overall going to work!!!!!!!!

Me previous best was 22 minutes coming 'ome with a ferocious tail wind 'elping me go like a rocket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The other day a equalled it.... Bit it was better as there was no wind 'elping.... Very still conditions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday a better it at 21mins 48 seconds with a slight swirly side wind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



As a get stroonger and fitter the time should keep improving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



Me main area is me leg muscles need strengthening more ter power up the 'ills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A know am nowhere near fit enough as the pros or the complete all over leg strength!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



Maybe a can get me time down ter 15minutes which is as fast as the pros!!!! But a would need a faster bike!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(mind you withn the road closed at an average spped of 50kmph similar ter the Tour de France pace... It would take 13miutes!!!!!!)



Over the week a achieve a top speed of 27mph which is pedalling like crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But mostly it is the 25mph area!!!!!



Yesterday a went bazzzzzerk trying ter 'it 30mph... pedaling absolutely spinning me pedals as fast as possibly possible and a 'it 30.01mph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



Butta feel this is the top speed of me 20 year old Raleigh mountian bike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



A top pros bike can get over 40mph comfortably.... A need a new bike but for now me present bike is fine ter get started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No camping plans for me, but the Masters from Eastleigh are currently residing at the Reading Festival. Don't know why, but I've drawn the short straw for the third year, and am the one picking them up on Monday, when they will be muddy and zombie-like (oh, I do know, and that's why he's the ex-Mr from Eastleigh).

I'm off today, but back at work for real on Monday. I've just spent two productive days getting my classroom (and my teal correcting pens ;-P) ready for the arrival of 29 little 6-7 year olds next Thursday. We have 3 training days before that.



Looking forward muchly to the start of the Paralympics next week. My ex pupil, Jason Smyth, was dubbed the "Usain Bolt of the Paralympics" in Beijing, as he won the sprint double by a mile in his class. He made the "B" standard for the 100m in the real Olympics, but Team Ireland only sent those who made the "A" standard. Jason is putting the disappointment of not emulating Pistorius behind him, and is concentrating on defending his titles. I think GB turned Jason down originally, so they will be kicking themselves if he does get double gold again!



In honour of Jason, I'm making a (probably vain) appeal for "BORN TO RUN" for my ARFO choice...



If that doesn't work, what about IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT (REM).

Just got back from a visit to Formby (Lady_S will know it well) and pleased to report that the native red squirrels there are recovering well from recent disease outbreaks and numbers are increasing well. We are so lucky to have these so close as there are very few places in England to see them.

We did - and we broke ALL the rules and had Fish and then MORE FISH - and with Red Wine!



We shared Smoked Haddock Fishcakes with Rocket Leaves & Chilli Dressing - beautifully presented. Then Mr. had Beer-Battered Cod with Chunky Chips and Mushy Peas - the peas were served in a separate dish! I had Mariners' Pie - almost as good as our own - Ha! - Salmon - Pollock - (we think) - Prawns - in a White Wine Creamy Parsley Sauce - Potato - topped with melted cheese - really delicious!



Then we shared a wonderful Banoffee Pie - truly scrumptious!



We were at - Bae Traeth Coch - Red Wharf Bay - and the scenery and the weather were wonderful for a little perambulation afterwards. A lovely afternoon. Thank You God.

I realise that Shona - when we had puppies, we used to boil up chicken and rice for them, and the fuss and commotion when that was being readied for them was something to behold! Little souls!!

Went out for lunch with Amelia today. We were disappointed that our table was left uncleared for ages, and that her salad did not contain what it was supposed to. Also, my toastie had one slice of barely toasted bread and another which appeared not to have been toasted at all... Still, it involved no preparation or clearing up!



Lovely walk in the forest today, too, without the forecast rain. The sun shone the whole time - result!



Just noticed on Twitter that Jonathan Edwards is interacting with my former pupil and Paralympic double gold medallist, Jason Smyth! Talked about him in an earlier post here. His American training partner is the rather wonderful Tyson Gay. I read somewhere that some American newspaper filter always changed the surname "Gay" to "Homosexual". How awful for the poor man!

What a shame about your lunch, perfect-circle.It reminded me of a tiem, only a few weeks ago when my Mr wasn't feeling too well and said he fancied a bowl of soup and some toast for his dinner.



Off I went and prepared it and gave it to him on a tray while I went to do the washing up. After a couple of minutes he called me and asked if there was any reason the toast was only toasted on one side! Well, you can't have everything, can you? ;0)

You are an absolute star Shona - being a vegetarian yet cooking chicken for your dogpoppet. Woman hath no greater love .. and all that







As it happens - I'm cooking a couple of chickens today. Sent out a reminder yesterday to various family members - along the lines of 'Family roast - Sunday at 2pm'. I received a message at precisely 7.41am this morning from youngest daughter "Yipeeeeee xxxx" Good to see she's still a homegirl.

I looked up spelling and it is Munro, so nearly right!



We had a bit of excitement yesterday evening. Our neighbour shouted over the fence that he had seen a canary fly over his garden and into ours. He borrowed our net which we use for the pond and set off up the garden.



A few minutes later he returned triumphant ............... with a tiny canary in his hand!



Where he put it, I don't know as neither of us has a cage but hopefully it has survived the night. It's chances out in the wild would be minimal, I imagine.

Morning everyone. Just about survived the deluge yesterday - no need to water in new plants at least. Can I add my lack of enthusiasm to the EJ day tomorrow ? It isn't that I actually dislike him but he doesn't need any additional exposure.



Sad to hear about Neil Armstrong last night. What a time that was for a 9 year old boy - we were on the verge of voyaging to the stars. Now 40-odd years later, the world isn't that different in many ways. Where are the dilithium crystals when you need them ?

Evening all. Nice & sunny here if a tad windy. Hope those who suffered thunder storms and/or flooding are safe & well.



In the midst (and chaos) of packing to come home. Fly home for the final time on Friday. While I am more than happy to be heading home I will be sad to leave. 11 months has flown by so quickly. Hope to be around more regularly from next week.
