I would second Paul's request for Jessica to start the show. I think she's great. Was reading yesterday that she still turns out for her club when she's available, even though they are at a lower tier of club athletics, and that the opponents get a bit of shock when she gets off the team coach at Cleethorpes and other such places the club visits.



I love the fact that even massive football fans are noting that the over-paid prima donna, big-time charlies aren't coming out of this fortnight very well :-)

Hospital appointment today - nothing terrible, just an annual 'check-up' on electrical stimulator which I wear to help me walk. I used to have to walk a given distance up and down the hospital corridor with it switched on/off and times were compared. Having watched all of the athletics recently, I should be well-trained and maybe in contention for a medal!!

What a remarkable result at Greenwich today. GB has been pants at showjumping for years and now we have just won the Olympic gold medal. Not a Whitaker in sight, either !

We went to Cutty Sark on Saturday as we wanted to see the new and improved ship. Also took a ride on the Thames cable car, that was rather splendid. We watched Ennis and Phelps on the big screen at City Hall, so it was a big London Olympic Fest for the B' family. Never use this word and it works:

Yippee a mention on the first proper days of my holidays and WE HAD DINNER IN THE GARDEN. First time for months and there is little that makes me happier than eating outside. Fish cakes, linguine and lots and lots of salad stuff for those interested.



Congratulations for all the other mentions (I love hearing other bloggers name almost as much as my own). Born to Run is the best use of a certain girls name ever ;-). Just home from walking the smelly surrogate dog to hear it.



Off to watch the Olympics. As himself said, life without the Olympics seems inconceivable.

Then came the Queen's Diamond Jubilee...... WHATTA WONDERFUL sight to see so many people waving union jacks.... All over the UK streets and towns I see while on my travels with photos of The queen and the union jack dorned across streets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



At last some pride is coming back to Britain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



Britain that 'ad lost it's 'great'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Following on from the diving last night Mr 41 (39 actually) is off to the football semi final at Wembley tonight. He rolled in about 1.30 this morning having met up with a mate for a few post speedo watching beers (hence the reason I can't join in with Bingo's shout).



Where's our favourite Gymnast this week? Bit concerned he might be in some discomfort due to chaffing lycra.

Amused by Simon's comment about our new names, but it does suggest that the blog is read with some care on a regular basis. This is supported by comments he has made regarding bloggers suffering bereavement, health scares etc.

Thanks for the mention. Had been feeling very frustrated as I'd desperately wanted tickets for the show jumping team final, but hadn't been able to get any. So delighted for Nick, Ben, Scott and Peter and well deserved. Special joy at Nick's double clear, as he was my childhood hero. Best wishes go out to Carl, Laura, Charlotte and Richard today in the dressage.
