Sing Lofty
Good morning to all bloggers, those who are new and those who have been around for awhile. The blogvets, a years service required. But everyone welcome of course.
Enjoyed yesterday, Tony Parsons always a good listen. In a rather lovely gesture, he bought me a book. He had seen that I had tweeted about having reached 90,000 words for Itch 2 and bought me a collection of Ernest Hemingway's musings On Writing. This is a good thing; guests who bring appropriate gifts for their hosts need to be encouraged. Retiring early, I managed a few pages of Hemingway before disappearing to the land of nod. This was nothing to do with the quality of what I was reading, more the onset of a what I thought was the imminent arrival of a cold. This appears to have disappeared for now and I shall plough on, manfully, not mentioning it to anyone. Please keep this to yourselves.
Nigel today of course and today he offers a courgette, pea and tarragon tart for your delight.
And oldies today for tall people. The annual European Convention for Tall People is meeting in Finland. And they need their tunes.
Have a brisk and efficient Thursday, see you after 5

Not that I'm saying all tall people are men, I know a few tall ladies but they're are normally outnumbered.
ps as a small person I would like to complain about the fact that I cannot reach an item on the shop shelf in supermarkets, once the first row is gone - and have many times clambered and stood on the bottom shelf to reach stuff.
Grrr heightist I call it. Also can't reach the 'top shelf' in newsagents, but that maybe why my mind is as pure as driven snow

I've just applied for tickets to watch the Olympic torch go around the race track in Oxford, first it's lit by Sir Roger Bannister (of the 4 minute mile fame) and he (sensibly at 90+ yrs old) hands it over to a young 'un to complete a lap. It takes place at 6.30am though - might be something I rue if I'm chosen from the ballot.
It's spending the night here, overnighting at a large park where the improverished City Council are holding an 'olympic themed' event.
*shudders*
This I predict will be a noisy tacky fair, cash bar, live 'music' of some sort relayed over a poor sound system and the usual trestle tables with local hippies asking for signatures to save something or other.
If not, I am prepared to eat my words.

Just had a quick scan back, and I couldn't see it, but then I have had what Luey would describe as a 'mans look'.
Thus far, I have yet to receive one of CoffeeBuzz's liquid confections, but having taken note of the latest ingredients, I feel somewhat relieved.

T'was our very own Tortie-Cat who was the first of our 'still blogging' bloggers to make an appearance on Jan 6th, 2010. Then Chickster on Jan 11th, closely followed by Paul of Sheffield. Ken Jude appeared on Jan 20th, along with KatyMac [who was BabyDriver at the time].
On Jan 21st Spike, who hasn't blogged since Christmas, coined the phrase 'Blesspoppet' by posting thus: "Simon, the show is a blesspoppet of radionessity .." thereby creating a distinctive linguistic style which, alongside some VERY smart music chat, became a hallmark of the Mayoblog. In those days - there was no 3-min delay and we were only ever required to choose an opener - yet the blog posts were in the 100s by the end of the first month.
It's fair to say that most of the banter centred around, apart from the above, Spike alongside Deevs and NicRolastic and Kev Williams and the Revster - all of whom rarely visit us now
:`(
Deebee joined us on Jan 26th and Sal [Mobile Tooth Fairy] on the 28th. Then Alex_Girl entered the den on the last blog of that first month - 30 months ago

JBG - I meant to ask yesterday - please can you give me a couple of strong hints about which running app you're using. it sounds great and much better than the one I use (although, of late, I don't use it at all... must get back into my trainers again)

I don't think Simon realised quite the 'power of the blog' at the start. Twitter was his favoured method of communication with the 'great unwashed'. But this blog had 'legs' and I still enjoy 'pooping' in and seeing Simon's contribution and what subjects we run with. I've certainly learnt alot from you all.

I listened to Simon from the very beginning. Even so - it took me months of lurking before I ventured in. @ 09.37 on 17th. August I posted my first. Someone - Sal or Deebee - had to explain to me why I was seen as "You" and not "Billie".
Got my first mensh for "Taxman" on 13th. Sep. 2010 - and didn't even hear it - we were out being Good Samaritans!

Well dones to Billy, Jilly and Mandy too!
#88 I fear you may be right, KatyMatey - there seem to be very few male artists around at the moment, in Radio 2-land at least. On a related subject, I have surprised myself. For the past two and a half years Simon has been trying (unsuccessfully) to convert me to Brooose - well, in my head he has... And do you know what, I actually like the current song! Maybe because it's a bit different from his usual style. I just hope it doesn't suffer from that all too common problem of over exposure...

No need to apologise for the song Deebee, it takes all sorts and it'd be a dull old world if we all liked the same thing. I commented really because I'd never heard it before and for some reason took an instant dislike to it.
