Am completely unable to come up with anything for todays topic. Perhaps due to my own 'lack' of height. I may only be 5 ft and 1/2 an inch but by heck I pack a punch (or not as the case may be). I recently tried on my neices 5 inch heels and felt dizzy, clearly I was never intended for great heights. She on the other hand is already 6 ft so why she needs 5 inch heels is beyond me!

On the subject of blogvets etc., I was pretty sure when I read Simon's opener that I'd been here (contributing not just lurking) about a year, give or take. I've just applied for tickets to watch the Olympic torch go around the race track in Oxford, first it's lit by Sir Roger Bannister (of the 4 minute mile fame) and he (sensibly at 90+ yrs old) hands it over to a young 'un to complete a lap. It takes place at 6.30am though - might be something I rue if I'm chosen from the ballot.



It's spending the night here, overnighting at a large park where the improverished City Council are holding an 'olympic themed' event.

This I predict will be a noisy tacky fair, cash bar, live 'music' of some sort relayed over a poor sound system and the usual trestle tables with local hippies asking for signatures to save something or other.

If not, I am prepared to eat my words.

On Jan 21st Spike, who hasn't blogged since Christmas, coined the phrase 'Blesspoppet' by posting thus: "Simon, the show is a blesspoppet of radionessity .." thereby creating a distinctive linguistic style which, alongside some VERY smart music chat, became a hallmark of the Mayoblog. In those days - there was no 3-min delay and we were only ever required to choose an opener - yet the blog posts were in the 100s by the end of the first month.

It's fair to say that most of the banter centred around, apart from the above, Spike alongside Deevs and NicRolastic and Kev Williams and the Revster - all of whom rarely visit us now
