I've been musing on what is a 'decent' interval to leave between receiving the crown and starting to ARFO chase again... Actually, I'd be very happy to bow out now for the forseeable - especially as some bloggers have never had an ARFO and there are others who had one once but so long ago they can barely remember it... But it would seem churlish to stop taking part altogether, so I think maybe I'll sit it out for a month or two, then start requesting Level 42 songs in the expectation that they will never get picked...

I have just been out on a dog walk with a friend and her dog. Got back and my son said to me that he was worried that I got caught out in a heavy rainstorm that had just passed. We had only walked a mile or so from the house and it didn't rain a drop. How localised was that? Now it is brilliant sunshine.



Florence, your cake sounds delicious. I love lemon cake, but it has to be nice and tangy.

Madchick, it is quite tangy as I put grated lemon zest in the sponge mix and while it's still warm I prick the top with a skewer and pour over a mix of icing sugar and lemon juice and I like Tesco 'finest' lemon curd, which is quite tangy and nice with buttercream!

So pleased to here the various pieces of good news and lovely to hear from Lady_Stormrider from her cruise....

We finally watched the second of the London Music programmes - the one that you said had something for everyone. [Saw Jool's on the night]. Yet to see the Joe Meek one - is it worth a look? The Beeb have commissioned some wonderful programmes about the British Isles incorporated some indiginous music but you have to really search through the schedules to find them. A few of my mates from the folk world have contributed.



Watching *TorchCam* Why-eye those Geordies sure know how to do a Woopwoop.



Who's next for the Torch Relay?

What were the openers! The show lost out to Honeydrippers Vol 1 as I was driving home today.

Re "dates" of choices: I'm all for expanding the repetiore, and so whilst they might not have been my personal choice, I'm quite happy to move away from the 'old favourites' - which frankly get chosen anyway during the course of the programme from the phone-ins



Re blog choices: for some reason I only choose 1 tune on a Friday, rather than my usual list (and I think quite a few of us are similar) - so if I'm not inspired, or can't choose then I won't contribute anything. I also get the feeling that quite a few bloggers don't really enjoy ARF in the same way as the rest of week (and I think that's understandable, it's a totally different show) and therefore are generally less "engaged" on a Friday and therefore less likely to contribute.



Torch in Northants still a couple of weeks away.

# 56 - Katy - glad you enjoyed it. We thought it was terrific - definitely something for everyone. Haven't watched Joe Meek yet. Will be interested to see the portrayal of Billy Fury. Will report back.

HELP PLEASE!



We do a Gordon's recipe. Chicken legs cut into thighs & drumsticks - red onions quartered - quarters of lemon - baby new pots - lots of garlic - some Rosemary & Thyme. Toss all this in Olive Oil ( in a baking tray obviously Ha!) and then roast @200c for 45 - 55 mins. Delicious! and so simple!



Question? Can I do this with a Pork Fillet? I've never cooked Pork Fillet before - far too posh - but it was on offer at the Rosethatwaits! Do I chop the fillet? Will the lemon go? Do I have to change the herbs?



Please - for Sunday!

One other thing -



Tonight's "FNIMN" features Paul O'Grady - not just as compere - but music choices from his life. We won't catch it tonight but it does sound rather lovely.

#60 Billie - yes to the pork fillet - leave it whole though.

Depending on its size and weight - your timings may also be OK - but whereas chicken has to be cooked through, you can get away with a bit of pink in pork fillet if you like that sort of thing. I don't.

Why don't you try quarters of apple with the onion instead of lemon and maybe a bit of sage instead of rosemary. Just a thought.

#60 Billie and #63 Katie... we also love pork with sage/onion/apple and I occasionally make a big puff pastry sausage plait with minced pork or good sausagemeat from the butcher, mixed with finely chopped onion, chopped apple and sage and it's nice hot or cold and good to take on a picnic.

Well done England ! Really enjoyed the game.

Just pooped in to say, pork fillet, tenderloin of....





Roll in sugar and freshly cracked black pepper and pan fry the entire loin, turning occasionally. Goes all sticky and gooey, after about 15 to 20 mins. Leave to stand for 5, then slice and eat, either as part of meal, or with dipping sauce.

Anyone going to see our esteemed leader at the Cheltenham Science Festival today? I went a few years ago - it was a fascinating day out with lots of events, shows and exhibitions. Memorable for several reasons, not least of which was that Lord Winston stood on my friend's foot. We were standing in a queue, and he walked past us - it was a narrow corridor and there wasn't much space. I'm sure he didn't mean to do it - he didn't apologise though...

Sal - as this is the first piece that I've bought I'm not brave enough to pan-fry this time - but your recipe sounds lovely. I'm sure the sugary stickiness would go very well just as honey/mustard goes with gammon. I'm going to adapt Gordon's chicken recipe which I quoted and take Katy's advice leaving the fillet whole, swapping the lemon for sweet apple and swapping the herbs to sage. Shall report back - it's Sunday night's supper.

Re: Joe Meek - I can't recommend it, I'm afraid - but do try it yourself and see what you think. We gave up about 15/20 mins in. Didn't like the slightly manic farcical style of directing - all the speech was delivered like machine-gun fire - it was surreal.

Sausage meat plait.... ahh memories of school cookery lessons.



Our version, used finely chopped onion, a good lump of sausage meat, a tablespoon of tomato puree and the same of mango chutney.



Equally delish cold.



Roast chicken here tonight followed by the ooiest, gooiest, chewiest pavlova, generously topped with fresh raspberries which are on offer at Tesco for a pound a punnet.



I made one last night too, but as we all had seconds, needed to make another today, as you do :)



Some of the lovely ladies, maybe a gent or two also, from CEs blog are up in Scotland for the weekend, unfortunately, the weather has not been great so far. I dont think it will deter them from having a funtime, I have joined some of them before, they know how to enjoy themselves, even when its later than you think!!

Glad you had a lovely day for your birthday Mo. I was roused at 3am by Wee Jimmy but he seems a bit more settled today.



I'm on a 3 day training course as from tomorrow so won't get a look in for choon chasing but I'm really looking forward to the 3 days. The trainers are truly inspirational ;)

Happy birthday for yesterday Mo..



Mr and a friend were working in the garden yesterday and completed more than I thought they would. I think even the Mr was surprised with their achievements.



They built a raised edge around a bed under two flowering cherry trees which was a bit of a no-man's land and we are going to fill it with bark and then put pots here and there - should look much nicer. Also, the birds seem to love rooting around in bark.

They also built another bed around a holly tree and Mr is going to compartmentalize this so that different critters can get in it and hide, nest etc. We have a pile of dead wood, twigs etc which is going to fill that up and he has drilled holes in the sides so that they can get in and out. He will cover some of the top to make it even more cosy for the little critters - at least 5* accomodation I think!



Lovely sunny day today, still bit windy but not like yesterday.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear:



Ave recently cracked the screen on 'touch' screen mobile phone after it fell outta me shirt pocket and bounced down the stairs in me new old 'ouse while a was in FULL flow of a Bingo Star DIY operation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok better me phone falling if something is gonna fall and noot me falling of me 6 metre 'igh ladder the other dee when a was banging up a new gutter!!!!!!!

(PS The gutter is performing most nice.... most nice with plenty of testing due to our typical UK summer!!!!!!!!)



So 'gutted' a was with me broken phone.... but it was still working..... The only problem with me screen cracked it's noot easy ter see beyond the cracks!!!!!!!!!

Escpecially when a was recently viewing new double glazing upvc french doors via me net app!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



So terdee a finally decided ter change the glass screen after ordering a new one for 15 sheets from via the net!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



Me kit came with tiny screwdrivers ter do the techno operation of taking me smartphone apart smartly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All was going well until 2 of me 3 power points broke off me mother circuit board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Panic set in.... could this be the end of me phone a thought?????????????



But amazingly after getting out me soldering iron a manged ter solder the tiny connections back on, that a tiny robot 'ad done before, ter try and get reconnected..... And ter me amazmentation.... It worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



The only thing now am a on borrowed time until me connections break.... thus breaking me connection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But this is not what worrys me the most.... losing connection from me mobile phone.... It's the wealth of information ave banged in me phone over the past 18months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



Ave got an important notes area of 'X-Factor tunes that suit me voice'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes over the years when a 'ear a song on the radio that is great, would make a great performance and suits the key a sing in..... Just in case a can ge tthe courage ter give it a go on the X gig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



For example 'ere are 2 totally different examples of great songs that suit me voice and a could do a great performance with:

Which is why am in a panic now.... Ter get all me madness outta me phone and written down in case me solders break..... thus losing me permenant power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And just in case the stage bekons.... But only if a can get over me stage fright!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Johnny Walker Sounds of the 70s playing on the radio in kitchen. I jumped up from the sofa in the lounge to answer my mobile phone..............but no, it wasn't ringing. Johnny was actually playing Sugar Baby Love by the Rubettes. Now you all know the ring tone on my phone.



What do other blogpoppeteers have on their phone?

I have a very boring 'toytown' phone Shona - no camera but it lets me make and receive calls and texts. I can also listen to the radio on it too! All I want from a phone.

No posh ring tones either!!
