Here Comes the Weekend
And Friday greetings to all bloggers. Child 2 to exams, child 3 to exams, parents to the bunker. Thanks for all the 2Day thoughts and music policy observations. There's nothing like a Radio 2-based discussion to get the juices (and blog posts) flowing! Who knows where it all ends up but I (at least) have read and will pass on. These projects have a life of their own of course and meetings will be held, minutes taken. Committees set up. You know how it goes.
2 show Friday here so a jaunt to 5 Live (in the crumbly, unloved remains of Television Centre) for 2 hours of film chat with Mark and Marky Mark Wahlberg who stars in Contrabrand, a new action thriller. He's had quite a life already (Mark W not Mark K) with New Kids, solo career, prison and now movie stardom. up for review, amongst other films, will be John Carter (the 'of Mars' bit appears to have been dropped!) and the new R Patz flick Bel Ami.
Then to R2 for the all-conquering ARF and the ARF crown waiting to be claimed. Thrill us one more time with that brilliant, pulse-racing opening tune...
Have an extraordinary and memorable (in a good way) Friday, see you at 2&5.

Weather hasn't made it's mind up here either. Brother arrives this evening to take over the nursing duties, and we'll be going home tomorrow. It's a slow recovery process but every day we see a little improvement, and as our sailing partner rather bluntly put it, she's a tough old bird!
One of the pluses of being at Mum's this week is that I've been able to read Itch in 3 days. I absolutely loved it! A great adventure story, nail-biting in places and extremely well written. Don't want to appear too sycophantic though - actually, I would have really enjoyed it even if it hadn't been written by our leader. Although in truth I don't know if I would have picked it up in the first place as it's not the kind of book I normally read. I'll be recommending it to my 11 year old nephew, also our Brainy friends' younger daughter who's 14 and a real book-worm.
No ARFO suggestion from me as I probably won't hear the show. Good luck to everyone else - some cracking suggestions above. Let's hope we can regain the crown this week.

#54 Harry are there any Jimmy Moon guitar shops in Edinburgh? Because that's where he has gone.
#57 Fell for that hook, line, and sinker. LOL
# 64 Flo, I had to leave the room for a minute!
#56 Jennie, yes my banana was in the form of 2 celery sticks today but I'm feeling like having another one which may be disguised as a packet of crisps.

#67, Thanks Harry - very helpful indeed.
It's looking 18% gray out and not much hope for the sun any time soon. When taking the dog for a walk in the woods, I could see the green for the bluebells, stating to come up...spring is really on it's way.
Have a good weekend,
LB, x

I'll never forget one night back in the 70s, a couple who had recently moved near us, and were pub regulars, brought in their friend who had come to stay for the weekend as he was playing at a folk club in Taunton, which was only about 15 minutes away and he had his guitar in the car and as soon as my uncle knew that, he encouraged him to fetch it in.
He started to play his guitar and sing Gordon Lightfoot's song, 'If You Could Read My Mind', followed by 'The Streets of London' and the place went quiet as he had the most beautiful voice and his name was Jack Hudson and I don't know if anyone on here amongst the folk-lovers have ever heard of him or seen him.
I had a look on YouTube and found this song, 'Hammer and Nails' which I'm sure he will have written himself... and a couple more and it would be nice to know if Jack Hudson is still entertaining people with his lovely voice and relaxed style.
