OK, I can add myself to the list of people that has never watched a Simpsons episode but I have wandered into the room a number of times when the boys have been watching the Simpsons Movie. Hmmmm. Then there was the 'musical' birthday card that one gave to another one year. Lots of burping, cue hysterical laughter amongst boys!



So, for this theme I have ventured into 13 yr old's room (he was not there) and delved into his music collection to come up with:

I am pretty sure that this won't be played but thought I would suggest it anyway. Its got lots of that 'rap stuff' in it. Always gets a good reaction.

We don't watch the Simpsons now, but we used to be regular viewers up until a few years ago - it was required early evening viewing in our house. We even refer to a family in our village as the Flanders (not to their face)...

Last night as I was driving home I was listening to Radio 4 (Feedback? Missed the start of the programme) and there was something on about two people who had to give up their favourite radio station for a whole week. A teacher who normally listened to 6 Music had to swap with her pupil who was a Radio 1 Xtra fan. It was interesting to listen to but made me think, could I do it? Give up Radio 2 for a whole week? Which station would I choose instead? Not sure it would be possible.

Phew, busy morning! Dishwasher emptied, washing up done, laundry put away, new batch of laundry in the machine, Sainsbugs order placed, 4 coffees made for Ziggy, phone calls made, emails sent. Next job: make chicken stock.



This afternoon we are off to the garden centre to buy my seed trays, seeds and other gubbins required to ensure a plentiful supply of fresh veg later this year. And then our new garden bench needs oiling. And after that, I will be emptying the 19 bags of blue shingle onto the paths we created in the veg garden. In between all of that, there will be more coffees for Ziggy and the cats to cuddle.



Life is SOOOO good.

Like Alex, I'm going through my seed box this afternoon to see what needs to be ordered ready to get growing again - can't wait!!



Saw something over the weekend which made me marvel at how nature gets on with things and doesn't just give in. We have blackbirds in the garden and spotted one which seemed to be having problems when on the ground. When I looked through the binoculars, one of his legs is obviously broken and sticking out at a strange angle but he can fly with no problems and land on tree branches etc. on his good leg. Hope he survives!! Fingers crossed...........

Afternoon all



I ventured into new territory last night and went to Hitchin Folk club. Never been to a folk club before, although I have been to folky gigs before - Cara Dillon, Transatlantic Sessions, John Tams and Barry Coope, but even the latter was in the Borderline rather than a folk club.



Was tempted after stumbling on a Youtube clip of last night's headliners, Nancy Kerr and James Fagan, playing one of their songs at the Shrewsbury folk festival and really liking it. And I really enjoyed it, they sing and play brilliantly and the banter between them was superb too.



Kirsty Bromley was support (and nanny to Nancy and James' kids while they were on!), she has a lovely voice singing tradional songs unaccompanied. And I think everyone in the room bar me knew the chorus of every one of them judging by how they instantly started singing along right from the outset! It seems folk singers get audience participation much more easily than rock bands do :-)

Looks like it's quiet here today and I've been out all morning, so not posted since first thing! A quick hello as I have to go out again in a few minutes and a special hello to Daisy's Dad, hoping you had a really nice time on Blockbusters last week. Were you able to stay and watch other games as well as taking part in your own?

I meant to post more after my last post, but I got called away to a meeting. And I'm still having problems with longer posts. This is what I was going to say:



#34 I have eaten McD*n*lds on occasion - their breakfasts aren't bad actually, and the coffee is rather good. And when the children were small, they considered it a treat to be taken there for lunch if we were out shopping. Nothing compares to my first ever visit to one of their establishments though - it was in Hong Kong!

It's quite a difficult day for him - his organisation is putting together a group of their top 20 or so consultants to get involved in their more challenging projects. Basically, at this point in his career he really doesn't want to do it. It will involve some tricky work and possibly travelling away from home. But he can't say no - that wouldn't look good. So he's hoping to come out as number 21...

#60 - Maccy D's in HK is just not the same as here Deebee, is it? Don't know why, but it tastes better over there. They have a more varied menu too.



Like Deebee, its a treat for the kiddiewinks. Wouldn't go there myself if I had a choice.

My boys also love the Simpsons. They went through a stage where they would watch on C4 and then turm over and watch the gazillion episodes they show on Sky. Have to say tho' that they are funny. Well at least I think so, hehehe!

#63 Tortie, haha... yes I did, a few minutes after Graham had played Judie Tzuke's new single! Memshes are becoming a bad habit... most nights on Janice Long's show, then Richard Allinson (three times in one programme) and now Graham Norton! ;o)



After playing Judie's new single, Humankind, Graham said he'd not heard anything from Judie for a long time and wondered what she'd been up to and said she'd probably been doing an attic conversion! So I quickly emailed him to say she's been busy touring, also writing and recording her 'One Tree Less' album and I added a a couple of pics I'd taken of Judie and her daughters Bailey and Talullah, from when when I saw them last year and said I'm going to see her again in March on her new tour.



Graham played another record, then he spoke to the lovely Bobbie, his traffic lady asking if she likes Judie Tzuke, then he read out my email, and mentioned the pictures I had sent! It was of Judie having just signed a card I'd made of my friend (also called Graham) with his prized fish he'd recently caught as he adores Judie Tzuke and it was his birthday a few days later, so she signed the birthday card for him and it's been on his mantlepiece ever since and Graham said he was going to frame it!

#64 Maccy D's in Budapest a few years ago was much better than here, the burgers seemed much improved over the English ones.



They also had a dessert bar selling various gateaux and other exotic puddings. It was almost as if they were trying to comvine it in to a more cafe sort of vibe.

I must confess, that we do sometimes call in at a McDonald's when we've been out for the day with the twins. We did boycott them for years, and the Morgan Spurlock documentary 'Supersize Me', put me off anyway. But fast food is sometimes the order of the day, and you don't have to go far to find one. We have 3 visitors - 2 males & 1 female. We can distinguish between the males because one has a slightly damaged tail. Have been very busy at work and at home lately, so apologies for lack of bloggage.



I would have been stumped with todays theme, as I haven't watched the Simpsons (well not all the way through a whole episode anyway). Thought the Mouldy Old D'Oh was very clever, as Gazza's suggestion of Can't let Maggie Go.



I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to Liza, but it is great to hear Simon back on Drivetime.



The first time I visited a MacDonalds I was in the Sixth Form (that long ago!) and a group of us piled in a friends car and we went to the exotic location of.............Letchworth!! We knew how to live!



I have not had a cold all winter, and hubby comes home after a week away and brings home some grotty germs passed on from a German colleague. German germs...arghh! Exactly 3 days later, I have it! But as I am a woman, I recognise it is not 'flu and I will carry on regardless. ;-)

#50 Jennie - I agree with you about how wildlife just gets on with things - doesn't give in - I would add - doesn't feel sorry for itself. Having seen many animals having gone through some sort of trauma - a damaged tail which had to be shortened - 2 broken legs and live in a cage for months - have teeth just drop out -

(NOT ALL TO THE SAME ANIMAL I must add!) - and they just carry on. Puts us humans to shame! I was complaining about my finger yesterday!

Didn't hear Dean Friedman song as I was in a blind panic looking for my bank card. Found it! Phew. It had slipped out of my purse.

Is the blog fixed now? Tried to post earlier this afternoon but computer said no...



Well done to all the menshes. I heard Florence, Billie, Autumn_Gale and myself for Coldplay (yes, A_G it is quite nice to be picked from 'millions'!), then had to switch off for a bit as Mr B came home and Son phoned. They are both poorly poppets. Congrats too to Zoe (who I missed) and PSL - I knew it had to be your choice before Simon said your name! Not forgetting Mo for the first 3 worder of the show!



#79 Thanks Madchickster. Yes, the presentation did go well - it seems he's well within the 20. Not sure if that's a good thing or not - we'll have to see. Just hope it doesn't mean him having to work away from home.



Did Simon say something about a daily podcast...?

Really enjoyed the show this evening - the bits I've heard anyway. It's lovely to have Simon back at the helm.

Can I also say how nice it is to have Simon back on DT. Who was it said they couldn't give up Radio 2 for a week? Neither could I. It's on every day all day but I can't listen to it work unfortunately.



Off to have some dinner and interact with Jocko. Mr W's home tomorrow evening so last night of eating on my own :)

I am shattered tonight but the good thing is, one day of work to go then a few days of annual leave. *bliss*

Hope to see you all tomorrow then a week away I'm afraid as I have family and friends staying for a few days. Then even more family descending at the weekend. Nice to have everone but not much of a break off work.
