Take Me To The Mardi Gras
Hooray for routine and playing records. Hooray for Rebecca, Matt and Sally. And for the jingles, newsreaders and engineers. And production team. And security and management. All of them. It's fair to say a degree of exhaustion has kicked in. Having kept going non-stop for ages it all seems to be hitting at once but my ferocious health regime (no chips) and top-notch gym routine (steam room 3 times every week) will get me back on track in no time. Fear not.
Another top show planned today (note:planned. Not the same as delivered. But we'll try). We will be talking about Who Do You Think You Are today. They have a live event this weekend at Olympia in London and actor Larry Lamb - who was featured on the show in August - is on Drivetime tonight. He's best known I suppose for Archie Mitchell in Eastenders and Mick in Gavin and Stacey but let's talk family trees and ancestors. The tv show is a huge hit with a magazine spin off - its readers voted Larry's show their most popular.
And music? Well SHROVE TUESDAY, PANCAKE DAY and assorted paraphernalia would work fine I think. And in case you're wondering, sugar and lemon is the only true way. Really.
Have a relaxed and carefree Tuesday, see you after 5.

In our house, we start with a savoury smorgasbord of toppings, so that everyone is happy: choose from spinach with creme fraiche, pancetta or bacon bits depending on how posh we're feeling, grated cheese, cooked mushrooms, pan-fried leaks or chopped broccoli.
Moving on, we have lemon juice, oranges or satsumas, kiwis, walnuts, chopped hazelnuts, choc chips or Nutella, runny honey, creme fraiche and sugar.
And every year, we say "Why don't we do this again before next Pancake Day?". And we never do.

The people who used to live in this house need to be shot (said in a Jeremy Clarkson jokey styley). We have had to re-wire. We have had to replace the boiler (and previous people ran a central heating business so you would think the boiler would work). The garage roof has to be replaced. And now the burst pipe in the stable turns out to be not just one section of pipe but the whole bally lot. As one leak gets fixed, another one is found. At this rate, we will have to rebuild the whole house!

I lived overseas in tropical climes many moons ago. The first Mr P and I had a house that edged onto the jungle and would often find a bat hanging from the rather revolting chandelier over the dining room table. Or was it just a table? We didn't have a dining room. The addition of the bat made the chandelier slightly less revolting. Gave it a certain something.

Do you know, I was just thinking this morning that we had gone for over a week without any gifts from the cats. Then I saw Rosie digging up a worm (she likes worms) and then Kira, eldest cat, caught a bird. Rosie stole the bird from Kira, brought it in and put it under the coffee table. I stole the bird from Rosie and put it in the chunder bucket. That'll learn me to think the cats are behaving!
We were working on the fencing in the paddock on Sunday and Kira and Rosie were playing with us, when I saw the Big Blue One who looks like Les Dawson walking down the yard and into the paddock. It was too funny! The paddock is really muddy and the Big Blue was lifting each paw so carefully with a look of distaste on her flat face. "Dirty, Mummy, dirty. Need wellies, Mummy. Hunter wellies". Hysterical!

I really must do something useful so when Mr P comes home and asks what I have done, I don't have to invent something. "Did the washing up" really doesn't account for 8 hours.

Apols for the absinthe, have been away in Paris, consuming - amongst other beverages, Absinthe!!
Catch-up at work (suppose I should, really) and finally a peep through the blog - how nice to see my B'day hat etc on 18th, thanks for all the messages katymac, Gazza, Jilly and anyone else I missed...
That day of the four was spent on an RER out of the city, to Chartres to see it's stunning cathedral (under renovation - it always pays to check these things) and a l o n g liquid entree, plat et dessert in a local restaurant. That cathedral was one of the COLDEST places I've ever been...
Looking back at the blog, it was funny to see the 'pooh' stories, or as I said most of the weekend "watch out for the caca de chien!"
I'd forgotten what a 'pissoire' Paris can smell like - and not just animals taking a crafty leak, either....
It'll be nice to hear the Maestro at the helm this evening, no doubt there will be some pancake makings going on in the background in most homes - ours no exception.
My son told me the night before we went to Paris he was moving into a shared house, with other professionals - his own age. He IS 25 and has been back and forth to wherever I lived since Uni and pre & post gap years, but I was a bit sad, end of an era really...helping him move Saturday and will try and keep a brave face.
Luckily, my mum is in a very funny play Saturday night which we are going to see (think of a play showing a local WI group putting on the 'Scottish play' - they are having trouble at rehearsals cos they keep creasing up!!') that should lift my spirits.
In terms of toons, would like to second
UPSIDE DOWN by Diana Ross, or Jack Johnson
or SUGAR SUGAR Archies...
We always have savoury ones (chicken and mushroom) AND sweet - I love lemon, and maple syrup...
Enjoy your 'fat' Weds everyone, for tomorrow we diet.

Got visitors arriving tomorrow staying with us and more descending upon us the weekend. It would be rather rude to ask them to stop talking while I come and blog with you. So, I'm handing in my absence note now.
Good luck with the choon chasing and I'll listen out for you all when I can: ))

Just returned from optician visit -ouch!! - thank heavens for a flexible plastic friend! Discussing the cost with the Mr over lunch though, we decided it was quite a bargain if divided over several years and the fact that you only get one pair of eyes! Glad your mum has had her eyes sorted out PSL - I bet she'll notice a difference when the after effects of the op wear off.
I hereby claim an OSM (along with everyone else) for Paul Simon!
Off to make pancakes - lemon and sugar for us! Enjoy yours however you have them...................

I can’t bear to listen to “Sister” by Beth Hart/Slash. It is so beautiful. I just fill up – I’m such a soppy sentimental old get - I’m going to have to start turning it down!
Enjoyed the show. Larry Lamb comes across as such a sober, well-rounded, grounded, intelligent man.
Heard all the show making Pancakes!
Menshees All – Welldone! I’m bound to miss someone out – Florence, Deebee/Debbie, Zoe and The Driver! Congrats!
Oh! And Blogger Billie!
Enjoyed reading the blog today and all the talk of Pancake Toppings and Fillings. I like posts with food in. Liked the sound of JBG’s household. We’ve just made 12 pancakes – 8 of which have been layered up in tinned toms with a filling of Spinach, Cottage Cheese, Garlic and an egg to bind. When it’s heated through, we will put some Parmesan on top to brown. The other 4 will call for some Banana, Maple Syrup and Vanilla IceCream.
We do this quite often.
PSL – glad things went well today!
