Tell me Y
Well good morning to you all. Mild indeed, house too hot- early morning adjustment needed. Looking forward to a touch of spring today. I know it hasn't been that cold this winter but the arrival of warmth (and a thinner jacket selection) is a cause for cheerfulness. I know it's back to normal by the weekend but as Lena Martel so memorably told us 'One day at a time'. And today looks good.
Melvyn was an old smoothie last night. Still a twinkle in the eye and bounce in the famous, lustrous locks. 72 would you believe! And working just as hard as ever with a brain full of stuff. Not everyone agreed with his main premise but the fact that we are less class-obsessed is surely true; we have better things to be bothered about.
Re. fewer postings. Will find out if there are tech reasons and increased difficulty in leaving comments. What are bloggers thoughts here? Will pass on to the BBC Dept of Blogging Affairs Investigation Unit to find out what has been going on. If its more complicated and boring to make your way through the system, questions must be asked...
Nigel does cookies today! Yes, it's big biscuit time. Probably with chocolate in too which is very bad news for Rebecca's Lenten avoidance of sugar. The smell might be the thing that gets to her in the end. Could you resist freshly baked cookies at 6pm? I think not.
And oldies please on the subject of MEN, MALENESS and the Y CHROMOSOME. It seems that men are not about to wither away. There had been reports which suggested that the Y chromosome had shrivelled and that as a result men could disappear in around 5 million years. Anyway, research now says that's rot and the Y is healthy and stable and has been for millions of Years. So that's all right then.
Have a mild and reassuring Thursday, see you after 5.

Technical Alert - Simon, would be most grateful if you could alert the BBC's Dept of BAIU that technical problems have been experienced posting to the blog - a small green error box appears, proclaiming that posting comments is currently not possible. Multiple refreshes seems to clear the problem eventually. But it's a right royal pain.

It's amazing what some sunshine, an enthusiastic dog and a long walk can do for your state of mind - should be available on the NHS!
Oh, I see the naughty step is getting a bit of use too, definitely must be something in the air! ;)
p.s. Had the horrid green box AND the horrid pink box today - please fix it for us Simon x

Well, I made it up to London and back again! 3 worder: NO COAT REQUIRED! Highly successful meeting. My cv was put forward for a role and by the time I got home, an interview has been arranged for next Wednesday! Immediate start, contract to early May but possibly extending to July, which means I take the rest of summer off. Hurrah's all round! Came home to a shirtless Ziggy and 3 cats basking in the garden (I think they were eyeing him up - such tarts they are).
Catching up:
Whoops Deebee! I "lost" your FB message and have now found it. Will respond.
Katy. Katy. Katy Katy Katy. I will miss you hugely but look forward to seeing you at Easter!
Harry, would you like a cushion on the naughty step? Don't want you getting all rheumatic. Or even worse, piles.
STILL have not experienced the green box and am STILL feeling seriously left out.
Cakes, hats, scarfs and crowns can be copied and pasted from previous blog entries. In Katy's absence, lets all take collective responsibility for awarding them - whoever is there first.
Back in a bit.

The Spring-like day mentioned this morning became very misty - even foggy -and stole Snowdonia for a while - then the sun came back and it was beautiful again. It has been doing that all day!

I have been feeling really out of sorts for the last few days but have been putting on a positive face and resorting to dreadful humour on this blog to get me through. But....
Tonight's confession, OMD, a flour-covered dance around the kitchen with my 5 year old to the Killers (we are making shortbread whilst Nigel Thursday is on) and my people's verdict text being read out has made me smile again.
So, thank you.
