Cold But Defiant
Parky or what? Feeling very happy that the boiler is ticking along nicely and not up to its usual tricks. Even writing about it in its presence makes me nervous. All the listeners busy 3-wording in things like 'off to Jamaica' are inflicting a cruel form of torture on the rest of us with nothing booked for a while. Warm holidays seem a long, long way away. Mat and I wrapped up well yesterday to reach the far off land of University College London's chemistry labs. We filmed a few bangs and whooshes for the website as we witnessed the screaming teddy baby experiment written about in our chemistry confession of a few weeks ago. It's taken a while to sort, but our confessor Jonathan donned the white coat and safety goggles to re-enact some of his greatest hits. The film will be up by drivetime time and Jonathan will be on around 5.20.
And for oldies I think we should have FACEBOOK tunes please, as it announces the biggest technology flotation ever. My Facebook involvement is limited to the Drivetime pages because my kids won't let me join. It's where they put their photos of nights out etc and the last thing they want is me checking them out. But it has taken over and changed the world so FACEBOOK oldies it is.
Have a connected and friend-filled Thursday. And happy birthday Ken.
See you at 5

What if they were glittery or white ones? Might this not explain his lordship’s new appointment and awful lot of other things too?
Three predecessors? First there was Freddie Mercury, then Paul Rodgers, and then, briefly, George Michael ................... Simon’s new job is obviously as the new frontman for Queen!

Thanks Florence and Harry for the Gotye info & video. I downloaded Gotye's previous album 'Like Drawing Blood' yesterday, because the songs 'Thanks For Your Time' and 'Heart's A Mess' are on that. I'll be getting 'Making Mirrors' when that comes out too. I think it's been released in Australia (and maybe elsewhere too) for a while now.
I had to rush off for a meeting, but did manage to tweet some oldie suggestions. They've already been suggested on here though, so I won't bother repeating them. I'm on Facebook, but I don't really like it (I've considered deleting my account on a few occasions) I much prefer Twitter.

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Facebook. I get fed up with the constant requests and "repost this if you agree, and by the way if you don't it means you're a heartless b******" and as a result I need to take a FB 'holiday' every now and then. But it does have it's uses - a couple of years ago I made contact with a cousin that I'd lost touch with, and I've also been put back in touch with old school friends. And FB has enabled me to extend friendships made on this blog, getting to know people better which in turn has led to them becoming 'real' friends.
I think on balance I prefer Twitter though.

It has been useful for a few events with old school chums, and I dare say will be again in a few years time when a significant "golden" age comes round. Other than that I mainly use it for a variation of a well-known word game featuring tiles with letters on.
I've only recently started Twi**ering but I find that I like it - easy to select whose updates you read, and easy to ignore anything you don't want. And a limit of 140 characters means less waffle. Easy to use on my smartphone too.
Not to mention a head start on the DT theme :o)

Do people still really still 'poke' each other on Facebook? I thought that particular method of attention-seeking was sidelined a few years back ...
.. reminds me of another irritating status update - along the lines of:
" I'm culling my friend list, so if you want to stay a 'friend' - you'd best respond now say something NICE about me .."
No real friend of mine would put pressure on me in that way.

#84 Katy too - Just took a look at the FB pic. What WERE they thinking? And not a great quality pic either. Matt looks like he can hardly contain himself. Is this a DT project, or an Itch project? Or a bit of blurring the boundaries?
Note the mirroring body language of Matt and Simon? Not that I'm an expert by any means, but I've noticed that quite a bit on some of the DT pics. Supposed to be a sign of a sympathetic person, apparently.

#90 Absolutely agree - in fact I've been tempted a few times to cull the culler, as it were. Although I must admit I have posted notification that I'm about to do a cull once or twice... more as in a 'I'm fed up with all this' statement... but it's been interesting how many people have taken it in the way you've suggested.
