Wardrobe crisis
This blog written on the way to review the papers for ITV's This Morning. I'm not sure what precisely they will want but believe it to be a lighthearted gallop through the pages which aren't full of gloom and misery. I have decided on balance not to wear my new Welsh rugby top. Red is never a good colour and as Rebecca made clear, I look like the opposite of a rugby player. Whatever that might be. My Nashville tea shirt has been vetoed too, so a slightly more trad suit and white shirt has won the day. David Aaranovitch at the Times tweeted its their nuns and vicars morning so a dog collar and black boxers was all that was needed. I have considered his advice but decided it might break some broadcasting code somewhere. Jo Whiley has suggested it's Pirates theme day. So many friends, so much advice.
Then to Radio 2 to record a chat with Michael Bublé for next week and onwards to 5 Live for the BBC's flagship film programme. Kenneth Brannagh and Cillian Murphy will be on too to talk 'My Week With Marilyn' and 'Retreat' and then, at last....
The ARF pleasures will close the day. I'm thinking a rousing tub thumper to set the pulses of even the most jaded Friday listener racing. Coffee, dark chocolate, cola and curry all increase the heart rate-now it's your turn.
Have a well dressed and cheery Friday, see you after 5.

Cutbush Crew sounds like a steetdance team or a bunch of dodgy gangster geezers, but that couldn't be further from the truth. We are three fellas who work at a company just outside Reading, Berks. Richie J, Paul G and myself bang our heads together each day in an attempt to think of tunes that fit the various themes, and I type those suggestions in to the blog. I'm Paul the man from Milton btw, Living in Milton, Portsmouth but working in Reading. So there you are then, that's the Cutbush Crew.
Lovely day today, and according to Chris Evans it's going to be a great weekend too. We shall see! So how about a tub-thumping opener?

Ah yes. Blackburn. I was born in Clitheroe - well, actually ... I SHOULD have been born in Clitheroe because that's where my family lived. But because Mum needed a C-section, they transferred her to Blackburn [the big hospital on the hill].
It's not the prettiest town, is it?

Re: the 'rub of the green'.
I'm probably more of a relativist nowadays than a fatalist ..
As an average R2 listener -
within the context of my immediate family -
a] there are lots of us and ..
b] my generation are now at that age where the good CAN die young - my brothers were both in their 50s and ...
c] many of the generation above us have passed on into another place.
I would also counter all the above with the fact that all offsprings that I know of have entered this life in ridiculously rude health.
AND I'm still here annoying everyone when I should have popped my clogs in Feb 2009 when I went to the Dark Side Of The Moon and came back!
I can only assume that we're actually rather average.

#87 It's no secret, LuciesMum, that I was very lucky to survive a SAH which is a cerebral haemorrhage caused by a ruptured aneurysm. I was quite poorly for a while but after three 'surgical procedures' I appear to be patched up and functioning normally again.

Hope the evening goes well Sparky, let us know what delights you are making your lucky guests.
Very jealous of Mr Regular JBG, Sicily is definitely on my wish list of places to go, hope you have a fab time.
Another Friday when I won't catch the show (not done deliberately I promise, Sir!) as I'm off into town for an early supper then to watch a friend play in his band, preceded by his son playing in his band at the same venue. Do love a bit of live music, so looking forward to that.
