Greeting cards leave a lot to be desired on all counts, I find. I wish I was more artistically gifted, then I wouldn't trouble the high street card shops at all.



It's grey, wet and windy here, and the talk of a mini ice age approaching us, has me wondering about stockpiling rock salt and buying some snow shovels, you know, just in case...

I survived the dentist and only had to pay £59 for the pleasure! At least listening to Popmaster took my mind off the ordeal.



As I didn't come here yesterday, congratulations Lord & Lady Ammo on reaching your 25th anniversary - hope Mrs M appreciates the card.



Re. cards - you could always create your own at one of the many card sites around. For my parents' 50th, I 'made' them a photobook and a personalised card (Mum cried, but I think she liked it really!)

#74 Tortie, I'm going to make a Photobook pressie for a friend and wonder if you have any tips please as I've not made one before. So far I have uploaded loads of pictures into a folder and I know I'm going to find it difficult knowing which ones to leave out as I have far too many!

Funnily enough, I am late cos a 'work colleague' was moaning and grumbling via email at me - and I have been trying to be a balm to his whingeing, without much success, so turned to the blog for some comfort - and what did I find, but songs about moaning and grumbling! Arg..

#79 LuciesMum, I had the opposite problem, as I didn't think I had enough photos! I tried to put them in chronological order, i.e. from before they were engaged to the most recent ones we had of them, and put some amusing captions underneath each photo. I must say, I found Photobook easy to use - I've used them a few times for cards and a calendar as well.

Tortie, I hadn't realised you had a fear of dentists, so it's good you have an understanding one! I've got a lovely dentist who recently took over the surgery from my previous dentist who was also very nice, but has retired. He's Swedish with a lovely accent and a nice smile and he has a good collection of CDs to choose from if you want music on.



The first time I saw him for a check-up he said I needed a filling and scale and polish and I told him that I wished I'd not eaten so many sweets over the years and I recited the first few lines of Pam Ayres' poem "I Wished I'd Looked After My Teeth" which amused him so I told him about Pam Ayres and I went home and printed out her teeth poem for him and took it along to him!



A few weeks ago when I went for my 6-month check-up, he must have remembered the Pam Ayres poem and as his assistant led me into his room, I could hear Pam Ayres reciting her poem and he'd got YouTube on his computer!!!



He's only about 30-years old and he knows just how to put people at their ease and seemingly he's great with children too and I think very often a fear of dentists begins in childhood! My last dentist was good too and one day when I had leaned back in the chair, he leaned over me and two springy eye balls fell onto my face as he'd been to a party at the weekend! When I was at school there weren't any dentists like today's dentists as they always seemed to be old and very stern!!!

Many years ago, we were forced to have our (now deceased) dog 'doctored', he gave us such a disgusted look on his return, he really did seem to be sulking. Plus it curtailed his 'hobbies' slightly! ;D
