Bushy-tailed
Here we go then with another blog and thanks for all the nice messages yesterday. I shall bring the trophy of elaborate perspex in today and let Matt and Rebecca fight over who is to be award monitor. 'Tis a heavy thing to take home on the tube but a useful door stop once there. We promise not to go on about it that much, but we raise a glass to you, the DT blogger collective and your patience. I think there will be more problems today so I write this not knowing if you'll be able to comment. Keep calm and carry on.
Today's show will feature a chat with the always engaging Mark Radcliffe and not Jeffrey Archer as Chris has just said). He's written "Reelin' in the Years' which he calls 'the soundtrack of a northern life'. He has taken a record from every year of his life and uses that as a starting point for a whole series of great stories and recollections. Here's something else from the cover - a quote from Brian Eno no less:"Brilliant, funny and original. If I wanted to study the history of modern music, I'd have Mark Radcliffe as my professor". Hear more from Mark after 6.
And oldies today please (if you are allowed to add stuff) on SUPERINJUNCTIONS. Yes it's time to let you loose on this subject which is causing so much celebrity angst and legal consternation.
And have a surefooted and clearthinking Wednesday, see you after 5

Judging by one of the alleged stories I've read, would it be naughty to suggest "Rawhide" again? ;-)
If Frankie Howard was still alive I think he would be saying "twitter ye not" at every opportunity at the moment!
This whole thing is a right farce at the moment. My brother tells me Private Eye have openly been alluding to the footballer in recent weeks by reference to him appearing "anonymous" in some games. Another one of the names was outed in a Daily Mail column by using the name of his TV show as an adjective to describe his behaviour.
Having seen a list of names on a website on the form of a "match the pictures to the question" quiz (with the names appearing if you hover the mouse over the picture) I can't believe any family member of any of the names isn't aware that their names are openly being bandied about.
So on that basis I will suggest:

Our hawthorn tree started flowering in mid April which was earlier than usual. It normally follows the lilac but this year both were in full bloom at the same time. Made for a remarkable colour display as the lilac is deep purple and the hawthorn is pink.

#61 Ken re: SuperInjunctions - Irish newspapers are also outside UK jurisdiction - not that I'm suggesting that anyone would even consider googling them.
Anyway, I have managed to ascertain that I'm NOT on the surgery list this week - it's OK, I'm really relaxed about it now - so I just might go ahead and plan [without actually organising it so it all seems delightfully spontaneous] to have a Eurovision gathering here on Sat night.
We still have family visiting for a few more days, and as most of them live in Europe - what better way to keep them entertained ?
Nothing too elaborate like flags and stuff - but definitely some edibles, imbibables and individual score cards ...

I tweeted all my oldie suggestions this morning, but just for the record they were...
GETTING AWAY WITH IT - ELECTRONIC
LIVE TO TELL - MADONNA
OUR LIPS ARE SEALED - FUN BOY THREE
SECRET LOVER - STEVIE WONDER
NOBODY KNOWS - THE TONY RICH PROJECT
It's dry but rather cloudy here today, so long as it doesn't rain on my washing, I don't mind :S
Looking forward to hearing Mark Radcliffe on the show, I likes him, glad it's not that other fellow, although I suspect he would have been the more topical choice...

#79 A Eurovision party sounds good Katy :) I'll be cheering Jedward on, I supported them during X Factor, because the press were vile towards them. Criticising their 'singing' talent is one thing, but the media got personal and nasty, and they are sweet boys...if a little wearing on the nerves!

Does yours look anything like any in pics below?

LuciesMum's pic of Edinburgh which looks like a pic of a beautiful blue sky and some blossom. Am chuckling at Deebee's...."Edinburgh was one of the places mentioned. If it's as pretty as that, then I'm there!" Now come on Deebeedeebs - how can you tell?

Mo - Mark Radcliffe or ...Jeffrey Archer? No contest. Don't they call that a no brainer nowadays?
Am currently reading one of Mark Radcliffes' other books about his life and music called 'Thank You For The Days' - A Boy's Own Adventures In Radio and Beyond

#79 I like the idea of a Eurovision party, KatyMatey. The Eurovision Song Contest was the first TV show I ever saw in colour. We only had a black and white TV at the time, but I remember going to some friends of my parents and watching it there. I was absolutely blown away by the whole thing! Can't remember what year it was, or who was in it but I was quite young at the time - young enough that it was a special treat to be able to stay up and watch.

It liked my posts above, but decided I couldn't post anything to do with Eric Clapton [that was for Deebeedeebs] or Mr P's underwear [that was for AlexG]
I'd also like to know where Harry is.

Sorry for not being around much today (or yesterday for that matter). I have loads of work on. I've just bought c.7000 books and they need sorting and cataloguing - much is junk but a few gems too. Who'd have thought that a Byron 1st edition could be worth so little ....... Marino Faliero, Doge of Venice, London: John Murray, 1st Edition, 1821 ........ similar copy to the one I have sold at auction in February for £35. I guess this is down to the capricious nature of modern book collectors (see what I did there?)

If someone could explain to me how Tootles the Taxi (barely 50 years old) can be worth twice as much as one of our finest poet's books (which is almost 200 years old) I'd be delighted to listen :-)

Well, I have a little phoenician bowl about 3000 years old that I bought in Byblos, and it was an archaeological relic when Jesus was around... and it's worth hardly anything, while a Clarice Cliffe jug knocked out in my lifetime is worth a zillion bucks. The answer, Harry, is that it's whatever is fashionable amongst the classes who chatter.
Superinjunctions will go out of fashion soon, and you'll be able to pick one of those up for about a tenner.
