I first came across Al Stewart on a CBS sampler album called “Fill Your Head with Rock” c.1971. Hardly ‘rock’, the track from Al was “A Small Fruit Song”:

But, I have since discovered that the meet is another whole month away, and I don't think I can quite wait that long! ;-) ....will now have to go away and re think my outfit!!!

Perhaps, Katy, the Drivetime team could make use of your services. Three times for the same tune is, quite frankly, rather weak broadcasting, seeing as there are less than 52 possibilities in each year, the show hasn't run for much over a year, and there must be millions of tunes to choose from. I dunno!

Lovely day in Cambridgeshire. MTF - sorry I wasn't around to 'play' last night. We were watching a programme about TOTP. Blimey, there were some seriously bad fashions around in the 70s!



As far as I understand it, 'segue' is when two songs or pieces of music are combined in one. Can't think of an example off the top of my head, but it's not quite the same as 'sampling', which is when a motif from one piece of music is added to another song.



You're going to ask me to explain 'motif' now, aren't you...?

As there are no neighbours, I may well take my laptop out and listen to the show that I missed (wednesdays I think ) on the i player.



There again, I may just delight in the natural surroundings of birdsong. They are certainly belting it out first thing in the mornings now.

Hope you're all having great weekends so far.



It's quite sunny, if breezy here after an uncertain start. It's nice to see the green shoots and signs of Spring everywhere, it gladens the heart to see everything bursting into life again after the relative drabness of Winter :)



I gave my mum here Mother's Day present (see post #35) and she found it rather amusing, which was good.



I'm afraid my alter-ego Mr Aston Wesley is being quite a diva today! He's gone all Bette Davis, and has locked himself in his dressing room with a bottle of gin!! I on the other hand, have to go to the supermarket, so strong drink may well be required before the day is out!



Deebee, I watched some of the Top Of The Pops stuff on BBC Four, and the 70s fashions were bad, especially Jimmy Saville, who was never in danger of challenging for the title of 'World's Stylish Man' but those shorts he had on!! :O I could almost see what he had for breakfast!!! Also I was quite unprepared for the tightness of Cliff Richard's trousers during his performance of 'Devil Woman' If I'd had a 3D TV it could have put an eye out!!
