Firth first
To the criminals who went through my car last night a question. What's wrong with my cd collection? They rummaged through the coats, gym kit (unwashed) and cds and were so unimpressed they left everything. Eagles, Florence and the Machine and a Soft Cell compilation, all callously left behind. Dylan, Fats Domino and Sugarland still where I left them. Burglars with no taste.
Thank heavens.
Hope your weekend was all you wished for, I spent mine down a mine. Well, 2 hours of it, at the National Mining Museum in Wakefield. Rock 'n' roll indeed! It's a brilliant trip out, really educational and an eyeopener for anyone who has never been down a pit. Dave, aka Chewbacca, was our miner guide and a real Yorkshire gem. It's free and they do a mean chicken and pea pie.
Dame Jacqueline Wilson is our guest tonight, one of the UK's bestselling authors with 30 million copies sold. 30 million! Her latest is "Lily Alone", it'll doubtless be another hit and you can hear her after 6.
And on the oldies (you might have had enough of romantic tunes by 5) we celebrate COLIN FIRTH. Yes it's COLIN FIRTH tunes please, let FIRTHMANIA, unbridalled, fill our heaving bosom. And produce a good tune or two.
Have a warm-hearted and self-sufficient Monday, see after 5.

Sorry to hear about the burglars' taste in music - can't believe there wasn't something in your car that they fancied. Joking apart, it's a real pain when things like this happen. Many years ago, when the elderGB was but a wee GB, we parked in a multi-storey car park and came back to discover the rear passenger side window had been broken and the glass was all over the GB's car seat. I was furious, not at the thought someone had tried to break in but that the glass was all over the GB's car seat. The drive home (we were about 30 miles away) was a nightmare. Our burglars' taste wasn't any better as nothing was taken :)
Well I'm struggling to think of a choon so will go with:-
It BAFTA Be You, It Has to be Me - Cliff Richard.

Glad I recorded the BAFTAS and watched them from an hour after the start. Sky+ and FFWD buttons were invented with adverts and Helena Bonham-Carter in mind.
Thought C Evans was joking when he mentioned a flashing P on screen this morning when paid product placement was going on, but it seems it's in the papers and being actively considered.
These people really are clowns. We pay a fortune for TVs, HD subscriptions on Sky and so on, and then idiots want to put even more clutter on our screens? Why don't they speak to viewers? I don't want a flashing P on my screen, I want them to make it illegal to put anything on my screen that wasn't put there by the director when they made the show, with the exception of the match score and match clock.
I'm not an idiot, I know what channel I'm watching without having a logo in the corner, and I'm smart enough to know when a product appearing on screen might have been a product placement. If they're really that bothered, instruct the TV company to put a note in the credits the way American gameshows do for the provision of the prizes. It's not difficult.
So sick of the lack of respect broadcasters and regulators have for viewers.
