I have heard this (and sung it) in what I would consider the tradition musical arrangement and in a more modern (?) treatment. It is the traditional version that I like.

# 63 Thanks Andrew - they are one and the same carol. Carols have a habit of changing their words depending on publisher, it can be a nightmare at Christmas. And I'm right with you. We are a very contemporary church in terms of worship and music but always sing traditional carols during our Christmas services - things that everybody knows.

No theme suggestions for me today - I'm far too late and anyway all the best ones have already been posted above. However, I do have a carol suggestion for the Revster, which I tweeted earlier*. 'The Angel Gabriel' - slightly less well known maybe, but it's a beautiful carol and has some fantastic alto harmonies.

I know "The Angel Gabriel" (obviously, not the actual Angel but the carol) and I agree, it is lovely. I think it may be on one of my Christmas CD's, sung by Sting.



Mr P has just gone into the garden to play snowballs with the kittens - I am not sure who is having the most fun!!



In the meantime, I struggle on with trying to convince colleagues to review the papers for a project committee meeting next week. People are trying to give the snow as an excuse for not reading a status report. Maybe I should have said that I can't write the report due to snow!! Grumble grumble.

I've turned my desk round so I can look directly out of the window at the snow falling. Glad we cancelled the day with Bishop today - being stuck with him in a car would have been interesting! One of the local clergy who has to use a wheelchair was trying to devise a snowplough to fit on the front of it.

#88 Yes, the Revster mentioned the Sting version to me on Twitter. I'm not a great fan of his (Sting, that is - I'm a big fan of the Rev's!), but I'll check it out. What a lovely picture you paint of your kitties playing in the snow! We used to have a cat, but she refused outright to go out if it was snowy. She'd stand at the back door and miaow at us, as if it was our fault!

#90 I am not a big Sting fan either but his version is good. The whole album is nice, actually. Very wintry.



Kittens are playing "catch the snowflake" again. I have just had to throw one of the big cats out of the door and under a bush so that she can do the necessary. She has done what she needs to do and we are now looking at each other across, trying to work out the return solution. She refuses to step onto the snow, I have my slippers on. Mr P has gone to the shop. I think Kira might have to wait for his return so that he can collect her and bring her back. I might have to relent and find the litter tray.
