Knock Knock
Loving listening to The ABofC with Chris. I've interviewed him 3 times (ABofC not Chris) and really enjoy listening to his brain working. Not sure he likes being the top man really but he does radio fantastically well (ABofC and Chris). Rock on Rowan (as it says in the good book). (Too many brackets already. First paragraph too. I need to cut down a bit).
Loved the show yesterday and loved Martin Shaw. Wise, gentle, top actor and looking great. He's 65 for heavens sake, looks 50. The key to interviewing Martin is 1) go see the play 2)enjoy it and 3)to not mention Doyle who he hasn't played for 30 years. Then everyone is happy. Today it's Duffy who's back with a fine new album of songs and she'll be here after 6.
Hat news. To my surprise, child 2 returned with my hat she had stolen yesterday and I have now hidden it. I now wear the top hat and all is well. A Dickensian Christmas will be mine.
Now as you might be aware, it is December 1st today and the advent calenders are out (no you can't have the chocolate santa before breakfast! etc). So lets do ADVENT oldies today. Lots of DOORS and KNOCKING (of doors). Or WAITING will work too. Thanks.
Have a supportive and encouraging Wednesday, see you at 5.05

Really enjoyed the show last night, what an interesting and charming man Martin Shaw is. Couldn't believe it when he casually said that he was at acting school in 1963 (!!!???!!!), that is a long time ago!
It is no good, I am going to have to start getting organised for Christmas. It is all that Mr Evans' fault, all excited this morning on his Breakfast Show. Now where did I put all my Christmas enthusiasm?? ;-)
My song suggestion today? Light My Fire by The Doors please,

First time for over a week I've had the chance to suggest any songs. However, quite a lot of my tweeted suggestions have already been posted above, so I will reiterate (and hopefully share!)
KNOCKING ON HEAVEN'S DOOR by Bob Dylan
I HEAR YOU KNOCKING by Dave Edmunds

Wouldn't normally ask but I believe it was in the Top 10 in the week I was born (my mum kept the newspaper from that week). Having said that, the font of all knowledge that is WIKI suggests it was released in November 1970 but I am not that old. Guess it must have made a comeback the next year.
Simon, agree with you on the Archbishop. What a nice chap. Very self-effacing and humble. Perhaps he models himself on someone from the good book.
Yesterday there was a bit of a discussion on here about being old. I rather like the quote:

This is Matt, this here is Zain, this is Zarkra and Zilla, Basith, Corrinne, here's Shuaib, this is Harvey and last but not least, this is Emily. Who are they?
Well, when you own a small newsagents shop, you find yourself entirely dependent on people like these. A lot of young folk get a pretty poor press these days, but in my own experience, the bad 'uns, such as they are, are heavily outnumbered by the good guys, some of whom you have just met. The are the boys and girls that deliver newspapers for me, and despite the fact that we have had about TWO FOOT of snow this morning, every one of them turned up and did their job. Every single one of them is a treasure. They know how much respect I have for them, and I thought I'd share them out, so that a few more folk mught be able to enjoy knowing them.
I told them that I might make this post, and to a boy and girl, they were of one opinion. 'Double pay anyway.' Oh, well, they're worth it.

I'm sure the majority of people would agree that our young uns are generally good and kind. So well done for standing up for them - and double pay is a bargain, many 'older uns' have decided to 'work from home' this week....aka, taking a few extra days off as they can't get through the snow! Having met Simon, it looks nothing like him - even taking into cosideration possible (?) airbrushing. In fact if that was the only picture I'd ever seen of him, I really don't think I'd have recognised him.
So, Ms or Mr Important Webpage Person - surely it's time for a change? Maybe for the New Year - that should give you a few weeks to work on it. After all, we're an imporant part of this page, so I think we're entitled to a say in what it looks like. Don't you agree?

Paul - a huge well done to your paper boys and girls. What a fine bunch they are. Happy to have met them.
Deebee, agree on the photo comment!
Dreamur - I am working from home and am actually working. In fact, am probably being more productive than I would be in the office.
Kittens have me in whoops today. They have been brave and experienced their first snow but have decided it is not nice enough to play outside. They are taking it in turns to pop out and bring in a leaf or a twig - they are creating a veritable garden indoors! Big cats have decided that bed is the best place to be - who can blame them?

It has affected our business this week and for some we know it is an excuse to take a day or two off rather than make an effort to get in - even if it means getting in later and using different transport. Sorry again to anyone out there working hard from home.

I am a contractor so if I don't work, I don't get paid and I suffer paroxysms of guilt that my employer might think I am taking the "p", so if I am at home I start work earlier and finish late to justify my fee! I am just weird. I even take the normal coffee and lunch break, even though I am working in the kitchen with the kettle just to the side of me!!

I've had a quick scan through and couldn't see this:

Apologies if I missed it. Personally, I'm waiting on a thaw.

Working from home is a tricky one. When I was in paid employment I did a day a week from home and I always found I got so much done without the office phone/colleagues asking questions/commuting/IT glitches. It's very much a case of finding a balance.
I do kind of work from home now - 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. For the time being I am a stay at home slummy mummy. Toughest job I have ever done and also the most rewarding. Whenever the girls are driving me almost to distraction I just have to remember the words of that song "the years go by as quickly as a blink" or something like that.
Have a lovely evening.x
