Was going to suggest KNOCK THREE TIMES but see Billie has already. Billie, any chance we could share? Wouldn't normally ask but I believe it was in the Top 10 in the week I was born (my mum kept the newspaper from that week). Having said that, the font of all knowledge that is WIKI suggests it was released in November 1970 but I am not that old. Guess it must have made a comeback the next year.

Good morning Everyone and, of course, Simon and The Team,



Just pooping by to see what's what! I haven't been around much this week, been super busy at work. Today, however, the gorgeous boys and I have a snow day - yay!!! It took the elderGB and I three and a half hours to get home from town yesterday (approx 5 miles) so I heard all of Simon's show in the car, well apart from the last 15 mins - the elderGB managed to sneeak past me with a Biffy Clyro CD. I thoroughly enjoyed the gawjus Martin Shaw.



I hope everyone is well and enjoying the snow. Now we are home, safe and sound and snuggly, we are. It has certainly helped to increase me festive cheer.

It took ages for my first comment to post - the first couple of times it said my comment had failed to post as it breached the profanity rules. I read and re-read to see what the offending word was but it took a while for the penny to drop. My Ps at #46 was included in my original comment (I forgot to include it when I had to retype my comment (retype due to the fact the original comment was taking ages to post)) and the offending word was contained within what is now my Ps. Can you guess which word caused the offence? A wee clue - I had it as two words, initially.

Good Afternoon Each! I am somewhat late today, as we have been exceptionally busy in the shop. Good old snow! I will have a couple of song titles in a mo, but first up I would like to introduce you to a few people.



This is Matt, this here is Zain, this is Zarkra and Zilla, Basith, Corrinne, here's Shuaib, this is Harvey and last but not least, this is Emily. Who are they?



Well, when you own a small newsagents shop, you find yourself entirely dependent on people like these. A lot of young folk get a pretty poor press these days, but in my own experience, the bad 'uns, such as they are, are heavily outnumbered by the good guys, some of whom you have just met. The are the boys and girls that deliver newspapers for me, and despite the fact that we have had about TWO FOOT of snow this morning, every one of them turned up and did their job. Every single one of them is a treasure. They know how much respect I have for them, and I thought I'd share them out, so that a few more folk mught be able to enjoy knowing them.



I told them that I might make this post, and to a boy and girl, they were of one opinion. 'Double pay anyway.' Oh, well, they're worth it.

Brilliant post Paul - and I agree, they do get a bad press. I have a 17yr old girl and her and her mates (boys and girls) are 'good guys'. But the words 'bad' and 'press' are put together for a reason, it's what keeps gossipmongers in a so called job! I'm sure the majority of people would agree that our young uns are generally good and kind. So well done for standing up for them - and double pay is a bargain, many 'older uns' have decided to 'work from home' this week....aka, taking a few extra days off as they can't get through the snow! And I know for many this is justified - but equally I know of at least 2 people who decided it was 'easier'...?!? And they will be the same peeps who will be complaining about the work ethic of the younger generation....

They are taking it in turns to pop out and bring in a leaf or a twig - they are creating a veritable garden indoors! Big cats have decided that bed is the best place to be - who can blame them?

I am a contractor so if I don't work, I don't get paid and I suffer paroxysms of guilt that my employer might think I am taking the "p", so if I am at home I start work earlier and finish late to justify my fee! I am just weird. I even take the normal coffee and lunch break, even though I am working in the kitchen with the kettle just to the side of me!!

Working from home is a tricky one. When I was in paid employment I did a day a week from home and I always found I got so much done without the office phone/colleagues asking questions/commuting/IT glitches. It's very much a case of finding a balance.



I do kind of work from home now - 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. For the time being I am a stay at home slummy mummy. Toughest job I have ever done and also the most rewarding. Whenever the girls are driving me almost to distraction I just have to remember the words of that song "the years go by as quickly as a blink" or something like that.
