Simon, the three Drivetime shows from the Roundhouse were awesome! I tried to put my appreciation in a tweet, but 140 characters just couldn't do it justice. All credit to you and the team. I managed to listen to most of all three shows, and the whole of the first one. Top class radio! Particular highlights for me included:

Ugh!!! May I don the ranty pants and borrow your collective ears for a mo ....



There's a chap here who I really can't stand. They type of man who makes my flesh crawl. I was just in the kitchen making my first coffee of the day when he came into the kitchen and saw me washing out a plastic milk bottle to put into the recycling. He then proceeded to tell me I was wasting my time as it all goes into landfill anyway and its just the council having a laugh and in cahoots with the water company to get more water usage by making us wash our recycling prior to putting it in the ground.



Unbeknownst to this idiot, I have spent 2 years in a past life working on a landfill site/clean recycling cente so I let him have it with both barrells as to how its sorted, who sorts it, where it goes and what it's made into. I was sooooooo angry at his attitude, and the fact that he wasn't exactly looking me in the eye whilst delivering him moronologue (eyes a bit too far south if you get my drift).



Sometimes, I could just really truly swing for some people.



Thank you. You may now have your ears back and I shall return the ranty pants to the chair in the corner for the next person .....

Am I the only one totally under-whelmed by the Electric Proms? Seemed to me that R2 went even more London centric than usual over all this.

I don't think there's anything specific I could point to to say exactly why. It's more of a feeling, an emotional response to what I'm hearing.

Afternoon all! Does anyone else feel like the weekend was cut short by an hour rather than extended? Nothing 'citing to report, just life. T'was dry and sunny which was a good way to start the shorter days. I live way oop north where we notice the difference dramatically at 4pmish.

Missed the Electric Proms. Sounds like it's worth a listen. Song going round in my head today which is vaguely connected to Simon's theme is A E, A E I O U. Can't remember who sang it.

I felt the weekend went at a nice pace. We took Nic's little 'un on a Hallowe'en steam train ride on Saturday night, which was fun until the local hoolie idiots started throwing fireworks at the train, subsequently breaking one of the windows, which resulted in the poice being calls. You really have to wonder what goes through some idiots' heads at times!?!



Yesterday we got taken out for lunch by a couple of friends, and then spent the afternoon catching up with SPRINGwatch (yes, SPRINGwatch!) and counting how many Cure songs the divinely lovely Chris Packham could drop into his script. Now, Autumnwatch awaits....!

I would ban the sale of fireworks completely other than to licensed organisers of displays. We don't let people walk in off the street and buy machines that fire gunpowder-driven projectiles (in the form of guns), why on earth do they allow morons with no conscience, no capability of sensible thought and probably incapable of remorse to buy fireworks?

Exactly Ken! I was just telling my boss about it and she reminded me of the Public Service Information ads that used to get aired when we were kids, showing people scarred for life by firework burns. Total idiots.



Mo - it's a bit easier this week, thank you. I've hopefully got a back support arriving today for my chair at work, and a tower thing to life my monitor up - desk posture is appalling.



I'm having acupuncture again on Weds evening and Yoga again Thursday, so I'm determined to get there in the end!

Strictly speaking, ZZ Top and Wizzard wouldn't get you higher points in Scrabs for 2 Zs. As was said on t'show, you'd need to use a blank for a Z as there's only 1 in the Scrabs pack of tiles. When you use a blank you don't get any points for it, so you wouldn't gain anything by using that blank as an A or a Z.

I, too, forgot to congratulate menshees, all! So, congratulations, Menshees all!



One of our paperboys has a similar hairstyle to Simon, what in my youth we would have called upsticky. The lad applies large quantities of gel to his bonce, thus creating mountainous spikes, reaching skywards like some sort of hairy stalagmite field.



I have an irrational(supposedly) fear of moths, and this time of year, when the nights have drawn in is somewhat uncomfortable for me, at times.



Hideous triangular flappy monsters filling the evening air. However, I think I have a plan. Tomorrow, I shall try to incentivise Shuaib (the paperboy) with the offer of some small financial renumeration, in return for which he shall hang around under the lamp-posts of the neighbourhood, listening to The Sex Pistols on an ipod. Not a hardship, methinks. The resultant manic pogoing dance that I envisage should therefore occur, will, with any luck, cause the impalement of at least some of the evenings Lepidoptera population upon his cilium-like coiffure. I'll keep you posted.
