I'm just back from a beautiful 5k run around a local lake ... it was a little misty and I have never seen the water so still ... really like a mirror with all the autumn colours reflected in it



Won't be able to listen tonight as I have organised a quiz night for my one of my running clubs (the walking division) ... 22 quizees with names in a hat to sort out the teams ... and fish and chips are being delivered at half-time ... what more could you want?

Travelling from LA to Vegas on our honeymoon, we had the local radio station on and on came "Cracklin' Rosie" - well, both me and Mrs. Williams started singing at the top of our voices, as it's a great song and ne of our favourite ND tracks. I will always remember belting out "PLAY IT NOW, PLAY IT NOW" as we passed the world's tallest thermometer on I-15 at Baker, California!

Drivetime on a day when no one's driving! Looking forward to the programme today. I've been listening to the HD Sound stream over the last couple of nights and hope it won't be long before its integrated permenantly into iPlayer.



I think, Simon, that you are getting ready for the clocks going back to GMT. Because 6pm to 8pm BST is 5pm to 7pm GMT! :D

Good stuff Jeremy. "Ring........" was also covered by LeeAnn Womack as was "Don't Tell Me" and it's noticable that lots of people have covered Buddy and Julie's songs.



I asked Buddy at a gig at Camden Dingwalls a few years ago if he'd play "Don't Tell Me" which I think is a great song but he said no "as it's a sad song" and more "a sad song with a capo". I guess he didn't want to clamp a capo on his guitar that night, although to be fair it was mostly an up-tempo night so he may have felt it didn't fit.



Glad that Buddy got his mando-guitar out last night during Darrell Scott's song. I'd happily pay the price of the ticket just to hear Buddy playing that thing, it just makes a gorgeous sound.

Given it is a Saturday and given it is likely to be a one off and given I'm actually sat at computer which allows me to get on this particular website page, (work restrictions) and given I've got a combination of a little bit of free time & opportunity to blog at the same time... Hello again.

Quiz night went very well last night ... 5 teams with scores of 87, 98, 2 x 99 and winners with 104 ... the last place team had the most to drink and were very funny miming their answers to each other as they thought that was more discreet that whispering



Very glad of the extra hour in bed and have thoroughly enjoyed bacon and home-grown eggs at out hosts ... quiet day today

Brief visit - if any of you use a recurring alarm on an iPhone to get up in the mornings, beware!



There's a bug in the current software such that when we are in daylight saving time recurring alarms (i.e. where you set them to go off at the same time on the same or multiple days) either don't go off, or go off an hour early. Mine didn't go off at all this morning.



If you have an alarm set with no repeat instructions, that still works OK because apparently it access the internal clocks in a different (correct!) way.



Apparently there's a fix on the way. The cynic in me wonders whether they deliberately put the feature in to enable them to draw out the latest jailbreak and fix that loophole at the same time.

#54 LOL! I have the opposite problem - I have to put my glasses ON to read my phone. I wear contacts for distance (have done for years) but for the past few years have increasingly needed specs for reading. It's blimmin annoying if I'm out shopping, for example, and someone sends me a text. Have to fish in my bag for phone and glasses, remove glasses from case, perch on nose - usually to find the text is something completely inconsequential. The trials of ageing...



Thanks for the tip, Ken - but I usually rely on Chris Evans to wake me up in the morning... ;o)

We’ve been a bit naughty today. We’ve ignored the list as long as one’s arm of things that needed to be done and haven’t done them.

Instead we’ve had a Sunday. Breakfast, Papers, Laze and then decided, quite late, to go out for Sunday Lunch - so went to our local Curry House. FANTAZMIGORICALLYGORGEOUS! A description of the food, not the name of the Curry House !



So - PoS - know you care - no supper for us tonight. Might manage a few cheese & bix. later on. If you had asked last night, could have told you about Mr. PB’s Fishy Pizza. He makes the dough and topping all by himself although he doesn’t catch the fish.



Been back a while. Stove is lit, lamps are on and cats safely gathered in. ISN’T IT DARK?

Hi Deebee, we had a lovely evening. It was very strange at first, because we had only met them once before, and the fellow guests we didn't know at all. Luckily, I remembered their names just before we left. They live in a very remote part of our village, and they let out their barns for various charitable events. We didn't get home until nearly one, they were very good company and there were no awkward silences.



How is your GB getting on at University? It is lovely when they come home to visit. We find it very quiet now both our two are gone.

Well. I know it's Halloween, and all, but I must say, there are surely limits as to what folk should be allowed to do to horrify you. And, when I dipped into R2 very briefly earlier on, they did certainly cross that boundary. Some fellow with a scouse accent trying to push low quality hard drugs upon us. Specifically, poor, low grade 'E'.

From a personal, and entirely selfish point of view, it at least means that I can stop watching The X factor. It's not entirely my cup of tea. And not wishing to be devisive, but I thought that Geneva had been unlucky not to proceed as a solo artist, and was a cut above some of those that did. And was the shining light in that group. Perhaps they can carry on and develop a bit more as a band. They certainly have access to some very good musicians (Ben, for one), and could even grow in entirely new directions. Who knows?



I wonder if this means that Spike might grace us with his prescence on the odd occasion, now he is freed of any constraints he might have felt under? Hope so.
