But if time permits I would appreciate a mensh for myself and Micky (Mr from Eastleigh) as we celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary on Hallow'een ... we chose that day as he is rubbish with dates, but funnily enough, he always remembers that one



Finally I saw Robert Plant at the Southampton Guildhall in 1983, when Big Log was high in the charts ... and I remember being totally mesmerised by his hair ...

Great to hear you're speaking to Buddy as well. I think he's pretty much the nicest man in music and so humble. And legendary is fair enough, not for nothing does he almost always win Americana instrumentalist of the year. Mind you, he does have a head start over everyone else - the sound from his mando-guitar is the best sound on the planet bar none. And as good a male harmony voice as you will ever hear too.



Bob H really does have the best job in the world given the relationship he has with these great musicians, such that people like Buddy will divert the van to chez-Bob to pop in for a cup of tea when they're on tour here in their own right.

Actually, if anyone is discovering new country/Americana music, Lauren St John who was once the golf correspondent of the Sunday Times packed that job in to head off on a journey to Nashville and wrote a lovely book where she spoke to people like Emmylou Harris, Buddy and Julie Miller, Steve Earle and so on. A great quote in there from Buddy - "my records are the sound of my house" - his studio is actually his living room at home :-).



I think Lauren went on to write Steve Earle's biography as well which I must dig out some day and read.

I'm quite relieved that I can't afford the ridiculous TT ticket prices - I saw Beautiful World and The Circus tours, and they were fantastic, but I think the prices for this tour are extortionate.



So I shall be asking Mr S Claus for the DVD for Christmas 2011 instead, and enjoying a morning of no refreshing browsers or pressing re-dial to an over-inflated ticket agent phone line.

Already there are 1,000 lots of Take That tickets on e bay at THOUSANDS of pounds!!! :o( Some people have bought dozens of tickets at several venues???? I really think Gary Barlow should have contacted e bay and had rip-off sales like that BANNED... just like Cliff Richard did a few years ago for his then annual Christmas show!!!



I saw their last two tours and like them as a 4some as I feel Robbie will be too overpowering!!!

I really don't know how these peoplehave got the tickets - I spent 2 and a half hours this morning with two screens and a phone and couldn't get anywhere near ticketmaster, etc. Ho hum...



Anyway, hope we're all well! And a Happy birthday Deebs!!!

Yes, the prices are crazy - but even more crazy that "most" of the tickets were already snapped up by 9.01 by resellers and touts offering them at 3X - 5X face value. I've already seen them on ebay for £250 each.



I understand this is the only way for bands to make money in music today.

But based on this demand, they could easily have charged double for every ticket.



So you have to then ask yourself, are they trying to manufacture a situation where they make some of their money from the face value of the ticket, and are then actually encouraging s short-supply which pushes people to the ticket touts?



It creates an even bigger PR story to get even more attention which nets them more money from TV and sponsor fees in the end.



Supply and demand, I suppose. And business is business.



Cynical, moi?

£250 Lophoman???? There are hundreds priced at several thousand pounds with load of bids!!!! But how did so many people get so many tickets at so many venues? They must be well in with the ticket agency staff because the majority of people who want tickets sit for hours without getting through for one venue.



There's something far wrong when this goes on... and 'real fans' of Take That probably can't afford these over inflated price... either that or they'll be hugely in debt after buying them!

Makes me really angry when this happens. I didn't try for tickets but would be majorly hacked off if I had. But more fool the people who are prepared to pay thousands of pounds. I love music, especially live shows, but is any band really worth that? Especially when the money is going straight into the pockets of the touts. Of course I am delighted for, and a little envious of, those that were successful. TT will put on a fab show.

Struggling to come up with an ARF today. Budget deadline day and I can't focus on anything else.

Thank you for all the birthday messages, cakes, etc. The day started well with a lovely bunch of roses from Mr B and croissants for breakfast instead of the usual slice of toast. I won't tell you want my GD put in her card to me, but let's just say my allegiances to this blog and to Simon haven't gone unnoticed in my family... Still not feeling 100% but I made it into work for Wear it Pink day.

I note the 'isn't it terrible that Take That tickets are being sold on Ebay' sentiments and generally disagree with the views expressed here. Concert tickets are a commodity and they will realise what someone is prepared to pay for them. This comes up every time gigs of this nature take place on the discussion boards on Ebay (and no doubt they will be today).



I actually like the fact that there is a secondary market for tickets and that Ebay provides a (relatively) straightforward method of sourcing them. A few years ago I wanted to go to a concert in Newcastle (Neil Finn), but me being me I turned out to be too lazy to get around to doing anything about it before they had sold out. Thankfully, I managed to get a couple via Ebay. I paid more than face value (not extortionately so) and was very happy. If it hadn't been for Ebay I might not have been able to go.



(By the way, the Take That tickets currently at three quarters of million pounds will be as a result of auction wreckers - people artificially bidding up the prices of the tickets in order to ruin the perfectly legal process of reselling tickets. Choosing which 'rules' to observe and taking matters into their own hands, presumably because they are disgruntled at missing out).



Some people will miss out. That is the way it is. Take That would not be able to perform enough concerts to satisfy all their so-called 'genuine' fans - nor would they want to. Some will get to go, some won't. That's life.

Highly recommended to go and see Judy Tzuke if she's ever in your neck of the woods. Saw her at the Stables a few years ago and it was great.

#74 Ken. Judie is still sounding and looking fantastic now and her daughter Bailey is also following in her mum's footsteps and has written a lot of her own songs, does her own set and she has a lovely voice. Her young sister Tallula does some harmonies and sounds really angelic on stage.

How's your back today, Deevs?

Well, I succumbed to some painkillers earlier as I think I've been over-compensating with my back, thus making my left knee rather sore! Doh! The acupuncture has definitely loosened it up though Tortie. I went to yoga last night for the first time and realyl enjoyed it. There were a couple of postures I struggled with, but I am confident that once the bum/back is sorted out, I'll be Little Miss Bendy!

Thanks for your really well-balanced reply. I hope I didn;t come across as a moaning minnie. I think we're in violent disagreement with each other. Yes, ebay is good, and yes, it works. My main point is that I think in a situation like this, the big bands work the system for all it's worth to get the extra publicity and media coverage.



Let's face it these "extra" dates that have suddenly been announced were always part of the plan - keeps the story active during today and probably into next week, when "overwhelming public demand" will mean they add more dates.



No different really from the encore at a gig , or the encore to the encore - always part of the plan . Was any band really not going to play their megahit, but just decides to do it because the public wants more?!



OK, didn't mean to hijack the blog for this (really quite unimportant) issue on a Friday afternoon.

You are absolutely correct in what you write. I've had Radio Five on for most of the day and the Take That ticket rush has been on every news bulletin. I'm sure a marketing expert would be able to put a value on this sort of coverage - no doubt it will be immense but, of course, free of charge to Take That.



I quite like Take That (and the new single) but is the fact that there is a great clamour for tickets news? I'm not entirely convinced.

With extra Take Taht dates now available (and possibly already sold out) I wonder if the 3,700+ lots of tickets on ebay will be selling for as much as the touts had hoped for! I feel sorry for the genuine fans who want to by a couple of tickets to actually go to see the show and not buy dozens to make a killing from! :o(
