#32. I think it was 'When I'm Alone'. Something about that song reminds me of Marrianne Faithful, Broken English era. I can't put my finget on what though, Lissie's voice has much more clarity. Perhaps just a shade of smokiness about it.

Is it me or has anyone else got the winter thickness duvet back on the bed? Acshilly, I still have the summer weight duvet on and popped the winter weight on at the bottom of the bed - I had a fab night's sleep last night.

#46 GB, no it isn't only you. In summer I don't use a duvet - just the cover is plenty for me, but the last few nights I have needed the duvet too.

Coming back from the HOT States, I've got thick duvet on for SURE.

AH - I can't believe it's only late August - it feels like it should be late September / early October. I heard CLP mention 'Indian Summer' this morning which made me think we are promised an IS every year and it never really transpires. Fingets crossed for this year.

#40 - Quite a bit this weekend. For the past 9 weeks I've been doing a 5k Parkrun on a Saturday (they're all over the country - there may be one near you). They're free time trails in public spaces. I'm slow but not the slowest.

I was the hare for last nights run, so checked it out on Friday, I ran the route I'd planned on paper, which turned out to be a bit too far, but that's why it's worth checking it first. Also found out about the overgrown stiles. Laid the trail with flour on Saturday, including false routes to slow the fast runners down (did this as a walk with Mr from Eastleigh). Then ran it last night. It was a beautiful evening, a good turn-out for a Bank Holiday and we finished with a ploughman's in a country inn. Who could ask for more?

Out with the Ladies Wot Run on Weds for our weekly 5 miler, cross county at this time of year. We've been doing it for eight years now, and it sets the routine of our week. One of our number is off to Spain for the next few weeks, but we'll still meet at her house while she's away.

Rightio - I have a few mins to catch up from the end of yesterday's blog and the start of today's.



PoS, MTF and AoE - I hope the younger members are all caught up on lost sleep and fully recovered from their festivals.



MCW - happy holidays - I hope the sun shines for you :)



MTD - great to 'see' you - sorry you're not getting access at work and your laptop has been poorly - I missed you and hope you're back on form again.



Deebee - that sounded like a right adventure on the ocean wave, not quite the Poseidon Adventure but scary nonetheless. I'm so glad you made it back in one piece.



AG - you back from the BH yet or are you there an extra couple of days? I hope you're feeling all refreshed and ready to take on the world again. From what you said in the previous blog the whole weekend sounded idyllic.



BP - liked your joke - keep 'em coming my lovely - we like a larff round here. I hope all's well in The Principality today. :)

#57 - Wow Alsion, you have been busy with the running. Glad you got a good turn out for your run yesterday. We did a hash a few weeks ago - it's quite a leveller - the faster runners were slowed up quite a bit by the false routes so it gave us all a chance to get back first. It didn't stop me from being nearly last, AGAIN, tho'. One of the local athletics clubs has done a series of 5k runs on the last Wednesday of the month during the summer. I did the run at the end of June and thoroughly enjoyed it despite being last equal. Children's social lives got in the way of me taking part in the other races :(



MP - I'd keep them to hand, I'm sure I heard the weatherman mention a touch of ground frost the other day.

#59 Well it was 6 degrees when I got in the car this morning at 6:40.



You can get ground frost at anything below 4 degrees, so that is getting pretty close (and may have been colder an hour or two earlier).

#61 Blimmin' 'eck that is chilly. I read earlier in the blog (it may have been over the weekend), someone is clinging onto summer by their fingernails and I'm feeling a bit the same really. Was it you, Deebee?



Just had a flashback to a dream I had at the end of last week and which, 'til now, I'd forgotten to share with you. I'm not too sure what went on before I got to this point in the dream but this is the bit that stood out for me - I was on a bus going somewhere or other with some fellow blogpoppets when the marvellous Mr Mayo approached me and said a few words (don't ask me what). I nodded my acknowledgement but when I tried to introduce myself I couldn't speak as the pastry from the sausage roll (or it may have been a pork pie) I had been eating was sticking to my teeth and every time I tried to say 'I'm GailyB from the blog' I sprayed crumbs everywhere. The aforementioned MMM smiled sweetly, pretending not to notice my dilemma, and said 'Aah yes Hayley'. I tried again to enlighten him but to no avail and thankfully that's where the dream ended with me wondering what the MMM must have thought. Anyone like to interpret that? It just seemed totally bizarre to me.

You see, I've now received Simon's latest tweet about Lissie's song choice being 'a brave one'. Gasps will be heard, he says. I will now be disappointed if it isn't 'The Great Gig In The Sky'. No, not really. I have had a listen to Lissie on Spotify(other music sharing, blither , blither), and I suggest that she would find it very difficult to disappoint.

Hi is Lissie going to sing "The Birdie Song" then? That would be brave in my opinion.

#62 That's a very strange dream, Gaily! Mind you, my dreams are often quite bizarre, especially when I'm on the boat - must be all the fresh air or something. Last time I dreamt I was doing the washing up and David Tennant was there. And our mate was telling him he should be complimenting me on my washing up skills. I'm not even particularly a fan of David Tennant! - no idea what that was about. I rarely or never dream about people I want to dream about, but I sometimes dream about people who really aren't very nice in real life, and in the dream they turn out to be lovely!

I phoned the hospital about half an hour ago. Mum's fine. I couldn't speak to her directly, unfortunately, as they don't have portable telephones on the ward, and mobiles obviously aren't allowed.



Gaily, to answer your earlier question we put a load of classical and jazz stuff on the ipod for her, as that's what she likes to listen to. I didn't actually check whether Mr Bee had deleted the Pink Floyd...

Lissie, yes Simon that was certainly surprise choice for the Great British Songbook, but right in a couple of ways.. (in my humble opinion) it is one of the Great British Songs Have heard many a version murdered by LZ wannabees
