I'm with Katy & Madchickster here. I don't watch the program, and get somewhat annoyed by the amount of media attention this non-event gets.

#7 Hi Alex. I only watched it because of the Spike 'connection' [plus another person I know who successfully auditioned]. Both were at Excel in London.



As for the media attention - the whole production is geared towards controversy. Very cleverly done. I could so easily get sucked into it all and understand why many do.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. A nice chilled weekend was had in chezP. I managed to sleep through all the rain and wind last night and was rather perplexed to see a sopping garden when I got up this morning!



I am afraid I don't watch the X Factor either (or Britains Got Talent or anything like that, other than Strictly which is a must see in our house). Great tune suggestions so far but my brain is porridge today so I will pass. Actually, I don't want to inflict X Factor thoughts on the brain cells that are working!

A really frustrating weekend for me. The Bournemouth Air Festival was a huge success, apart from the fact that no planes flew on Saturday, and on Sunday there were a couple of biplanes and that's yer lot. No Red Arrows, apart from a short fly past on Friday, and the F-16 made a very short appearance, again on Friday. Anyway, always next year!



I can;t abide the X Factor, I'm afraid, ever since I read Ben Elon's hilarious (and spookily close to the mark) "Chart Throb", all about how the contentants in these sort of shows are manipulate dto within an inch of their lives.



Can;t even muster up the werewithal to think of a song, but I think MadChickster has it wrapped up with #9 and 10.

I'm liking some of the cynical choices here, but I'm just not going to even try to think of songs for this subject. Not even cynical ones.

PSL - I think you're in with a good chance of a mensh today.



I caught up earlier with the previous blog - looked like you guys all had fun oh, and a storm. I think we had some rain in Lincolnshire but I didn't hear a thing. We have patchy blue (quite a watery blue, at that) sky at the mo.



Deebee - re: your Mum's impending op - my sister worked for an orthopaedic surgeon and he told her of this wee old lady who had been having a hip replacement under sedation - quote of the day as he was busy doing a bit of sawing "My it's busy in here today, isn't it? Are you having some work done, dear?" Bless her, she had no idea and needless to say the surgeon didn't enlighten her.



I was otherwise occupied yesterday - having a bit of an adrenalin frenzy with the the boys and some friends at Alton Towers (other theme parks and rides...) - what a blast. It was our first time ever and we thoroughly enjoyed it - we got on 13, Oblivion, Nemesis, Duel, Air and some of the water rides. The boys are suitably impressed with their mother.



Much better than a bit of nude skydiving, it has to be said ;)

# 55 Hi GailyB. Glad to hear you had an exhilarating time at Alton Towers. I had a trip up there a few years ago with a group from work, also had a great time, but got stuck on Air for an hour or so when it conked out. It stopped just as it left the boarding area and we were all left hanging as it started and stopped all the way up to the first drop! That was a real white knuckle ride! All the staff were great and everybody was well looked after once we got back down though.



Well done for racking up some kudos with the younger GB's!

Finally allowed back in, got up to my floor and they were oblivious to it all. Then realised I had left my coffee behind. Aaarghhhh.

Btw, the 'C' and the 'B' are close together so easy mistake to make. I have to say, tho' the younger GBs were less impressed when I told them I'd had my eyes closed all the time on Oblivion and Nemesis. *Note to self - keep your mouth shut as well as your eyes*.
