Summer fun indeed (back in a bit)
So here we go with the last blog for a while as the big old summer holiday looms onto the horizon. I have to say I'm a teeny bit tempted to blog when no one is looking but we'll see. First today to the dentist who tells me I need a filling. This hasn't happened since I was at University so I'm hoping the technology has changed and it will be a pain free experience and I'll barely notice a thing. I fear that wont happen and it'll be Marathon Man all over again.
Assuming I can speak, two shows to do with 5Live movies at 2 and then the promise of an All Request Friday choc-full of holidaying, yachting, decking, parties, graduation do's, hen and stag weekends and a host of people to make your plans sound rather hum-drum. But we need that signature tune to kick things off and that'll be your job.
Assuming I make it through the numbness, see you at 5/2 at 2/5.
Saying ahhhhhhh.

The name may not mean much to msot of us (me included), but the nterview shed some light on why he is relatively unknown. He was the singer in groups such as White Plains, The Ivy League, Edison Lighthouse, The Pipkins (remember Gimme Dat Ding?!?), the early (and best, IMO) incarnation of Brotherhood Of Man, and...THE FIRST CLASS - he sang BEACH BABY! I couldn;t believe it when the show played hits from all these bands, that one person could be responsible for singing all these songs. It's definitely worth checking out the interview on Iplayer - look for Radio Solent at around 1 or 2pm today. Also check out YT for Tony Burrows - some classic 70s bubblegum hits featuring his excellent voice.
Anyway, that's my tuppence worth. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, guys!

#77 KatyMac, you may be right. I'm not a FB expert. But I think it depends on the way your account is set up. Some people (me included) have it so only friends can view their details. Althought I guess if a member of the group didn't have that setting, then non-members could view the contents of the page through their personal page. Although it wouldn't be as easy to access as this blog is. Also, I can't imagine why anyone would want to view the page with amy malicious intent. Good point, though.
We're going to see Toy Story 3 this afternoon. I'm looking forward to it. I'm slightly worried though, as I've heard it can make grown men cry. As my boss was out on Friday afternoon I was able to watch/listen to Wittertainment on 5 Live, and they were reviewing it. They compared it to the end of Winnie the Pooh, which Simon read out - by the time he'd finished they were both practically in tears! Anyway, I shall take plenty of tissues.
Hope everyone has a good day.

On the blogpoppets of Simon Mayo's FB site, if you go to the 'wall' you can see the status of the privacy situation.(As you can on any FB site) In this case, the site is open, and anyone can see whatever is posted there. As a public site, it could't really be any different. Members own pages can be accessed from this site, but if you set your own privacy status to family and friends (In setings), there shouldn't be a problem. Just be careful what info you post on any public site.

#80 Thanks for the clarification Horace. I'll be round later to stalk you...;o)
Toy Story was absolutely brilliant. I urge you all to go and see it, if you haven't already. And yes, I did cry.... The 3D was the best I've seen (I'm starting to sound like Dr Kermode now) - after the first few minutes you didn't really notice it was in 3D. I'm hoping to see Inception next, but it probably won't be till after my holibobs.
CLP is going on about how good Top Gear was last night. Now there's a man with taste!
So anyway, I wonder what today's theme will be? Hang on, though - there is'nt going to be one.... How will we manage for the next 3 weeks? :(
Have a good day one and all - might poop by later out of habit.

If you do want a theme, hows about songs about parting, and the sweet sorrow thereof. . Difficult subject, I know, AND you wont get your song choice played, but we can always pretend it was a twitter day.
I'll kick off with...
'Since You've Been Gone' by Rainbow
'Parting Glass' by The Pogues.
This is strangely liberating, the knowledge that you can pick a song that was a massive hit, and one that is totally obscure, and eack will meet with equal levels of success.
Come on, join in!

It's me and I'm back from hot, hot, hot Greece. Washing machine is on at full speed and I thought I'd see what you've all been up to in my absinthe! Sad to have missed Michael Palin on Simon's show the other week, he along with Clint Eastwood being my 'older man' crush.
As I return, Simon leaves (something I said??) so how about SAY HELLO, WAVE GOODBYE by SOFT CELL.
Mountain of paperwork to wade through now, might poop in later!

Liking the idea of absence songs. How about SEALED WITH A KISS by Brian Hyland -"though we've got to say goodbye for the summer...". Or MIGHT AS WELL RAIN UNTIL SEPTEMBER by Carole King. Or NOTHING COMPARES TO YOU by Sinead O'Connor.
Or, from the sublime to the other thing BYE BYE BABY by the Bay City Rollers. Or MISS YOU NIGHTS by Cliff Richard...
Okay, I'll stop now.

I wonder if The Floorboards are on their holibobs? Anyhoo, welcome back Chickster - glad you had a good time. My cousin is just back from Kos which was equally hot, hot, hot. Bless her she had her heating on Saturday evening.
Deevs - It's Monday - you still in love? ;)
Deebs - I was thinking of you this morning - old CLP was going for it urging everyone to see last night's Top Gear asap. I may have a wee look-see if only to see the gorgeous Mr Cruise, mmmm yum.
Katy - Curries, plural? - are you having a curry party? Hope the friends and pubs were good fun - did anything happen?
MTF - how was the street party? Did you need a taxi?
FB - I haven't a clue. I can just about manage my own page but not sure about the Blogpoppets' page. I've been on and had a look but forget to check it regularly.
Excellent idea PoS to keep the theme going in Mr M's absinthe. My suggestion which is totally inappropriate but gives a sense of the bereftness I'm feeling this morning at the lack of the gorgeous Mr M for the next 3 weeks - BREAKING UP IS HARD TO DO, DAVID CASSIDY (my first ever crush, mmmm yum).
My gorgeous boys (GBs) have gone off with their dad now - the hoose is too quiet but I'm keeping busy. Having a meal with an old friend from The Auld Grey Toon (Dunfermline) and his daughter, this evening. Looking forward to hearing a friendly tongue - it'll be like slipping my feet into an auld pair of baffies (slippers).
Good luck with the menshes you guys ;)
