2318? Good grief. Hello again.
Hello to all you lovely bloggers and drivetimers, I have missed you all. Every single one of you. Thanks for keeping the blog ticking over. 2318 comments is a lot of discussion whichever way you look at it. I was tempted to post a sneaky new one while no one was looking but decided that wouldn't be right or wise if the family got to hear about it.
Suffice to say 3 weeks off felt lovely and spent some of it in Nashville where we should all have gone round the Country Music Hall of Fame and I would have chosen Bob Harris as our tour guide. It's a terrific tour anyway but going with Whispering Bob would have been a real treat. The 105 F heat is a wee problem but the A/C chills you enough to cope with it
I have doubtless put on a stone due to excessive consumption of fries, ribs, slaw and pancakes but will hold my stomach in for the webcam.
So today's Drivetime then. Let's do diamonds and jewellery please on the oldies. Lots nicked at the weekend at the Royal Exchange but more importantly, lots of good songs to choose from. Please leave in the usual space below.
And we welcome Colin Murray to Radio 2, he's the new host of "Match of the Day 2" and an all round good egg. He'll be my guest after 6.
Homework, Confessions, Showstopper, Tweet o'wisdom all back today (as well as Pauline but not Matt) and looking forward to it. Roll on 5 o'clock!

My suggestion in honour of Simon's trip to Nashville is:
Does My ring Burn You Finger - Buddy Miller
Or could have the Lee Ann Womack cover version of the same.
Another suggestion: Diamonds and Pearls by Prince. Not a huge Prince fan but I think this is a great song. Tommy Vance used to play it a lot when he did the Drivetime show on GLR before some BBC fool decided GLR had to return to be being a talky station and rebadged it back to Radio London.

MCW - hope Monty returns soon. Bad chicken.
Right, suggestions for today:
SILVER THREAD & GOLDEN NEEDLES - JANIS JOPLIN

So far, today has not gone well. Started with all 4 cats deciding to come to bed last night so there was me, Mr P, one big cat and one kitten IN the bed and one cat and one kitten ON the bed. Alarm clock decided that I was so cosy that I should stay put so it failed to go off. Late to work and rushing like a loony so the DLR decided to break down. Finally got here, dashed to coffee shop and was given a full fat cappucino with chocolate on it rather than the skinny latte I had ordered.

We had a bit of a Friday the 13th on Thursday the 12th - younger GB decided he didn't really like the glass he'd been drinking from so (accidentally) dropped it on his plate and smashed the glass everywhere, thankfully we had all finished eating so it didn't matter so much there was glass all over the table. He then decided my friend's full glass of cola looked better on its side with the contents splashed all over the floor, thankfully the glass didn't break but there was a bit of a flood from the spillage. He had a third incident but I can't remember what it was now. Suffice to say, we sailed through Friday the 13th - not that I'm superstitious, really. ;)
Hi Glenn, you may both get a mensh - it's nice to share, isn't it?
