#59 A photograph is better. Although most of the photos I have of me with well-known people are really bad ones of me. I guess it's nerves or something, but I always seem to be pulling a face.

Fair point Deebee, but usually when I'm at these events I'm wearing a giant orange romper suit, sos pictures are not too flattering! Also, we aren't supposed to brandish cameras or pester the stars. I'm perfectly happy to just turn up and work - gives me something to do at weekends to keep me out of trouble!

#59 Yes, I was trackside IT support for both the race and test teams - in the office for 1 day out of every 14, the rest of the time either building garage networks, laying cables to motorhomes, or supporting the team during the test and race weeks. #59 I've been to Silverstone once, the year Schumacher got black flagged (hurrah, how we cheered when he had disappeared).



I worse shorts, stupidly had no sun-blocker on (it was chilly when we arrived at 7am) and got horribly sun-burned on my legs. Drove to Preston and back for a meeting the day after, then couldn't stand up when getting out of bed on the Tuesday morning and collapsed in pain.



For me, I can't see the point of going as there's just too much that happens out of sight. I think I'd prefer to go oval racing in the States with a seat from where you can see the whole circuit.



However, everyone should go just once because if you haven't heard a Grand Prix car in the flesh you really can't appreciate what it sounds like in the flesh.



When the first car came round from to the pits fairly early on the Sunday morning, the "what the hell is that?!" sensation of hearing that noise from the far side of the track on a still, quiet morning is hard to imagine.

I wouldn't go if I didn't marshal, and therefore get in for free. We can't see much of what is going on, but there's a great atmosphere being there, especially being on the startline with 20 F1 cars giving it 19,000 revs at the start. Crikey!



It is remarkably slow today - where is everybody? Gailybevs? Paul? Katy? Deevs? Hellew?

#71. The nearest I can compare is when, at the tender age of 16, a friend and I went camping in Caister, near Great Yarmouth. We arrived after dark, and pitched our two man tent at the far side of the campsite, where there didn't seem to be anyone else, and we thought we wouldn't be disturbing anybody with our nocturnal bumbling about. All was fine, until about half past five in the morning, when on the other side of the fence from our pitch, about thirty feet the other side, a helicopter landed, pretty much blowing the tent down, and causing deafened panic to ourselves. This clearly explained why no-one else had pitched nearby. Formula One car? Pfff!

I'm in and out, Malcolm. This is sometimes the way, quiet, and then a flurry.

I worked on Friday so I could have today off. Been to youngest gorgeous boy's sports day today - he did really well - he won the three races he was in and clinked all the way home this aft. Bless him.



I knew a guy who worked for Sauber - he had something to do with IT and was based in the pit (is that the correct term?). Sounded like a v glamorous lifestyle although it didn't do his marriage any good, sadly.

Good to hear from you GB, and glad the boy done good in the sports day! I used to hate school sports days - did reasonably at the swimming gala though.



One can be based in the pits at a circuit, quite correct, indeed that is probably where I shall spend some of my time this year. It is a demanding schedule for the teams - hence the FIA now build in a month off for them all during the summer when they're forbidden to test and all that.



I'm full ahead both heading homeward in a mo - looking forward to a good show.

#81 Good news, thanks Kev. I will install straight away, my machine was jailbroken for a while and I liked being able to listen to the radio as a background app while doing other things. I miss that so will go for it straight away.



Can you ask your good authority if he can program in a user-selectable dialled-in delay to the feeds in the app when using during a live session? The digital delay on TV is a bit of a pain when the timing screens are instant - I like having the numbers that but hate knowing that driver x hasn't improved his time when he's still coming round the last bend on the screen :-)

Without widescreen? That's like asking me to watch it in black and white with mono sound sourced from a tin can attached to a piece of string!

Yup - welcome to my world! The digital signal is so bad sometimes in our area, especially in summer, that we have to watch analogue for days on end. We either get ghosting from France or the dreaded "no signal" message...

Feet up for me I think, after I've taken the eldestGB to cadets. I ordered some books for W*terst*nes last week (other bookshops are available) and they arrived today. I've just started on the Elegance of the Hedgehog and I think I'm gonna like it. :) Just finished Brixton Beach - it was fan blimmin' tastic. One of the Channel 4 Book Group suggestions (I'm sure other book groups are available) and definitely worth a read.
