I love the song "Nottingham" by Sherriff. It was comissioned by Nottingham City COuncil to promote the city back in the 80s, so they asked ex members of Paper lace to write it. I have never ever heard it on radio, only on the 12" I bought at the time. Weird lyrics too, as I recall, written from the perspective of someone (who has been away from the city for a long time - just like Simon and me!

Great minds again! Funnily enough I was in Nottingham on Sunday, taking my son back to University. there is a fantastic Indian restaurant in the centre of town, and we always take him there as a treat before he embarks on his student diet of rice, beans and beer!

Wasn't Alvin Stardust from Nottingham, am sure that I heard him on Steve Wrights programme a week or two ago?

LOL! Having read Stuart Maconie's Cider With Roadies, I always have a little chuckle on hearing Alvin Stardust. If you've not read it, check it out - it's a fab read!

Wow - the blogpoppets are busy today. Beats yesterday's measly 16 posts!



Now I have a few things to say. Firstly, thanks for all the kind words on Friday. I'm so glad I've got my new phone, as I was able to read the FB and Twitter messages on the way down, and they really helped. It was a tough day - probably worse for Mr Bee as he knew him better than me. The service was lovely (if these things ever can be) and afterwards there was a buffet at a really nice place called Compton Acres (I think) in Sandbanks - do you know it, Kev? Then we dropped in at my Mum's on the way home and missed the worst of the traffic.



Secondly, thanks Tortie for the heads up on the latest column. Do people want me to carry on putting the links up on the blogpoppets FB page? I know most of us are on Twitter so get them from Simon himself, but there are a few non-Twits amoung us. Let me know - I'm happy either way.



Thirdly, was I the only one who noticed Simon's reply to Darren's tweet yesterday morning? Nice one CDF!
