Hmm....randon gamesy, PE related thoughts as follows:



"Stumbled" by Kevin Montgomery, the inevitable consequence of sadistic PE teachers thinking running over uneven ground is a good idea. That would be a Bob-friendly playout track.



"Trapeze" - Patty Griffin..........games in the Circus School, another possible playout contender



"Trouble" by Ray Lamontagne, the consequence of forgetting your PE kit



"Caught By The River" by Doves, the fate of the over-eager cross-country runner who sets off too quickly at the start. This is a great song and should be played on the radio once a week by law. Jangly quitar heaven.



"Trampled Underfoot" - Led Zep. The fate of the kid who who hates ruby and trips over when unexpectedly receiving the ball



"No Quarter" - Led Zep. None of those American sports over here thank you very much



"Don't be Cruel" - Elvis, the unspoken shout at the sadistic PE teacher as he instructs yet another lap of the field.



"The Gap is Too Wide" - Mostly Autumn. Not getting my feet wet jumping that stream, I'll take the long route round and be late for double Maths.

Half Man Half Biscuit had a few sports related songs. I particularly like "All I Want For Christmas Is A Dukla Prague Away Kit", but if that is a bit unseasonal , then there's "I Was A Teenage Armchair Honved Fan", or "Outbreak Of Vitas Gerulaitis".

"Friday Night And The Gates Are Low" unfortunately contains a couple of four-letter words, which I suppose will discount it, and I can't even tell you the title of the Fred Titmuss song, as I'd be modded out of existence.



Now, if Radio 2 could look the other way briefly, as they broadcast the 'B'word, then the best of the lot would be "The Referee's Alphabet". Perhaps there is a radio edit somewhere, or maybe the techies could organise some sort of bleep. I urge you all, anyway, if you don't know of the work of HMHB, check them out. They are pretty much unsurpassed at what they do.

I do make a reasonable bird noise, by the way, but it aint me on The Ref's alphabet. Nor am I the narky blert, I add before Tricky asks.

Ah, J is for ju-jitsu, etc etc - havent heard that for ages!

I sometimes wonder if this blog is a bit like QI in that if you go for the really obvious suggestion a big siren goes off but as far as I can read since nobody else has suggested it and at risk of setting off said imaginary siren...LET'S GET PHYSICAL by OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN...
