Watson has had the best season of her career so far |
Guernsey tennis player Heather Watson has been nominated for two British tennis awards. The 16-year-old, who won gold at the Commonwealth Youth Games, also reached the singles semi-finals at the Junior National Championships. That has led to her being nominated as ladies' junior player of the year. Watson is also in the team of the year category after being part of the GB Under-16s team which reached the final of the Junior Fed Cup. Watson, who attained a career-high world junior ranking of 64 in September, is up against the likes of junior Wimbledon champion Laura Robson for the awards.
