Watson made the semi finals of the Austrian Open to boost her ranking |
Guernsey's national junior tennis champion Heather Watson has broken into the world's top 100 junior players. The 16-year-old has risen up to 84 in the world in the new rankings announced this week. It has been a meteoric rise for the 16-year-old, who was given a wildcard into the girls' section of Wimbledon earlier this month. Watson began the year ranked 234 but is now ranked alongside the likes of Wimbledon girls' champion Laura Robson. Watson's ranking comes after she made it through to the semi-finals of the singles and won the doubles at the weekend's Austrian Open.
