Mace's second place is the best ever CI performance in 100 years |
Guernsey's Nick Mace dropped his two-point lead on the final day to finish second in fullbore shooting's Grand Aggregate in Bisley. He is the best-placed Channel Island shooter in a century of the event. British international Nigel Ball took the title with a score of 690.91, shooting 11 more 'V' bullseyes than Mace, who scored 690.80. Mace is awarded the Silver Cross, allowing him to have the letters SC after his name in shooting literature. "It's been a marvellous shoot," Guernsey Rifle Club member Bruce Parker told BBC Guernsey. The Channel Islands have a strong history of fullbore rifle shooting, with Guernsey coming second in the Overseas shoot on Thursday, just behind local rivals Jersey and ahead of Canada.
