Sinfield: Defeat is not an option
News image

Friday's play-off eliminator against Hull is do-or-die for Leeds.

At the start of the year, we set ourselves the goal of winning a trophy. To fall short is something I do not really want to think about.

If our season was to end on Friday, not only would we have let ourselves down, we would feel as though we had let our coach and our fans down as well.

When we hit top form we can be outstanding
Kevin Sinfield

People might say that the future looks bright for Leeds, that we have a lot of good youngsters coming through.

But that has been the case for the last couple of seasons. We need to start picking up some silverware.

It will not be easy against Hull.

We may have beaten them on the last two occasions we have met but it is a completely new competition now.

The last 28 rounds do not really mean much. It is going to be whoever wants it most on the night.

We are certainly expecting a very physical game at Headingley.

Their players will be desperate for victory and keen to register a win for coach Shaun McRae, who is a big favourite down at the Boulevard.

We are just as desperate to go through to the next round and have prepared for the toughest game or our lives.

I would like to think we can come up with something special on Friday
Kevin Sinfield

One thing is for sure, we will not be complacent.

There is no doubt that we have been inconsistent at times this season and will need to be in the right frame of mind on Friday.

But when we hit top form we can be outstanding. We know we can match or better anyone else in the competition.

Trouble is, everyone else who has made the pay-offs will be thinking the same thing.

But we can only concentrate on our own game. If we get our own house in order, we will be very difficult to beat.

And I would like to think we can come up with something special on Friday.
