Sinfield: Waiting for a GB call-up
News image

I am keeping my fingers crossed I will be in the Great Britain squad when it is announced on Saturday.

I have really enjoyed this year and to top it off with a Test series against New Zealand would be fantastic.

I watched the Kiwis play Australia earlier this month and thought they should have won.

They like to throw the ball around like basketball players

They completely dominated the first half but handed victory to the world champions.

What most impresses me about the Kiwis is their ability to attack from anywhere on the park.

They have got some great players and play the game the way everybody wants it to be played.

They are not a "stick it up your jumper" type of side, they like to throw the ball around like basketball players.

It helps that most of their squad comes from the New Zealand Warriors side, who did so well to reach the NRL Grand Final this year.

They should know each other's game inside out.

What's more, they have got four warm-up games before the first Test on 9 November.

But they have got tremendous strength in depth.

The fact that they were able to leave out Joe Vagana and Lesley Vainikolo just shows you how much talent they have at their disposal.

Stacey Jones
Kevin Sinfield would love to take on Stacey Jones
If I get picked, I am looking forward to playing against Stacey Jones.

He has had an outstanding season for the Warriors and I admire him a lot. He is a terrific scrum-half.

New Zealand dominated us the last time they toured here in 1998.

Hopefully we can get stuck into this time and turn the tables.

But it should be a cracking series.

We will find out on Saturday just who GB head coach David Waite has in mind for the full-back spot now both Kris Radlinski and Paul Wellens have been ruled out.

Richard Horne, Karl Pratt and Leon Pryce have all been mentioned, as have the more experienced campaigners of Stuart Spruce and Gary Connolly.

I would put myself forward if it meant I would definitely face the Kiwis.
