Double signing boost for Knights

York City Knights

York City Knights have signed prop Nathan Massey on loan from Castleford until the end of the season.

Massey, 19, has played for Cas in Super League this season and also had a spell on loan at Featherstone.

York coach Paul March said: "With Danny Ekis currently out injured he'll give us that extra punch up front."

The club has also announced that forward Rob Kelly has agreed a new one-year contract. He is the third player this week to commit for 2009.

Danny Ratcliffe and John Oakes also put pen to paper in the past few days.

Nathan is a fantastic young player who I'm sure will become a Super League regular for the Tigers in the coming years

York coach Paul March

March said of Kelly: "Rob epitomises hard work. He doesn't always get the credit he deserves but all of the players really appreciate what he brings to the team.

"He may not be the biggest of back-rowers but anyone who makes more than 40 tackles every time he takes to the field deserves a lot of credit."

Massey, meanwhile, will be available for Sunday's National League 2 game against Oldham. He trained with his new team-mates on Thursday night.

March said: "I am delighted to have Nathan on board for the rest of the season.

"He is a fantastic young player who I'm sure will become a Super League regular for the Tigers in the coming years."
