Paul March will play alongside new signing Adam Mitchell at half-back

York City Knights have signed David Clayton on a one-month loan from Dewsbury Rams.

The 19-year old can play at full-back, centre or stand-off and could make his debut against Blackpool on Sunday.

Coach Paul March told BBC Radio York: "He's played all his junior rugby at Bradford and he's been coached well.

"He's just looking for that opportunity now and we're a bit short on numbers, he's going to come in and hopefully do a great job for us."

Clayton's addition to the squad could be one of a number of changes for the Knights after three consecutive defeats.

March said: "There's no point just going in to each game with the same people if nothing is changing."

New signing Adam Mitchell will come in at stand-off and David March could return from injury on Sunday for his first game in three weeks.

Mark Applegarth will also be available after missing the last two games.

March said Danny Ratcliffe could also make an unexpected appearance: "Danny could be a surprise package for Sunday.

"He hasn't got a break in his wrist but he's still having another X-ray either today or tomorrow to make sure he gets the final all-clear.

"Then it's just a matter of if he can put up with a bit of pain and if he puts his hand up he'll go straight back in as well."
