York City Knights have strengthened their half-backs with the signing of Adam Mitchell from Keighley Cougars. The 26-year-old can play at either scrum-half or stand-off. Knights assistant coach James Ratcliffe told BBC Radio York: "I know him as a player and Paul [March] knows him as a player and he can do the job. "I think he'll fit in nicely at York and hopefully he'll be able to bring something to the party as from the game at home to Blackpool." The Knights have struggled for cover at half-back for the majority of the season. Team captain Scott Rhodes and Danny Grimshaw are ruled out for the season with back problems, while Danny Ratcliffe is still waiting to hear if he has broken his wrist. | He's got an opportunity to go into the side and stake his claim for the position for the rest of the year and also for the contract next season | Danny Grice will also be unavailable for the next three games as he goes to Australia as assistant coach of the British Amateur Rugby League Association's Under-18s. Grice's unavailability, coupled with the injury situation, has left coach Paul March as the only recognised half-back. Assistant coach Ratcliffe said Mitchell will go straight into the Knights' side at the weekend. "We spoke to Adam on Friday and did a deal until the end of the season," said Ratcliffe. "He's got an opportunity with Danny Grice going away to go into the side and stake his claim for the position for the rest of the year and also for the contract next season."
