York City Knights captain Scott Rhodes has been ruled out for the season with a shoulder problem.

Knights player-coach Paul March told BBC Radio York: "Scott's loss is a massive blow for the club."

Danny Ratcliffe and Danny Grimshaw move in to play at half-back for Sunday's game at Oldham.

"To lose Scott at this stage is crucial. But saying that, Grimshaw and Ratcliffe have both stepped in and are doing a great job," March added.

I'm bit sore to be honest," he said. "I'm a bit disappointed after Friday and then Monday's one minute performance. I'm very doubtful for Sunday

The coach is expected to miss the game himself after inuring his calf at Barrow on Monday.

"I'm bit sore to be honest," he said. "I'm a bit disappointed after Friday [when he was sent off] and then Monday's one-minute performance. I'm very doubtful for Sunday."

Meanwhile, March, Ryan Esders and Danny Ekis will all face the Rugby League's disciplinary panel on Tuesday 1 April.

Esders and March were both sent off in the game against Gateshead for fighting, and Ekis has also been charged but March is hopeful of a positive outcome.

"Videos don't lie. I've got video evidence that I don't throw a punch and I got some ill treatment that game. I got a few late tackles and I took exception to one of them.

"Obviously other players came running in. Ryan's the same. He got a late tackle off a ball. Danny Ekis is just looking after his mates. But we'll all take what's coming to us and get on with it."
