York City Knights assistant coach James Ratcliffe was angry after Saturday's 46-34 defeat at National One bottom club London Skolars. The Knights let a 20-6 lead slip to allow the Skolars to register only their second league win of the season. Ratcliffe told BBC Radio York: "It was just a complete switch off. We thoroughly deserved what we got and we've been lucky to get a bonus point. "I don't think we deserved anything from the game to be honest with you." Ratcliffe added: "I'm quite a mild mannered coach and at half-time they didn't get the mild mannered side of me. | Don't take anything away from the London Skolars because they played very well York City Knights assistant coach James Ratcliffe |
"It looked like for the first 15 or 20 minutes of the second half they'd actually taken note of what was required. Then the switch off comes and we've let them run away with it to be fair." The Knights injury list also grew with Rob Spicer and player-coach Paul March suffering concussion in the game and Danny Ratcliffe breaking his wrist. March also picked up a leg injury. Ratcliffe said the defeat was very disappointing after the Knights had shown improvement in recent games. "We targeted this as getting three points after being a bit disappointed in our finishing last week against Barrow. We wanted to come down and get three points. "We prepared well and people have paid for the expense of coming down and staying overnight. But don't take anything away from the London Skolars because they played very well."
