Knights pass third half century

York City Knights

York City Knights passed the 50-point mark for the third consecutive game as they beat Swinton Lions.

Knights scored 12 tries in their 66-12 League Two victory at the Huntington Stadium on Sunday.

However assistant coach James Ratcliffe told BBC Radio York there is still room for improvement.

"We were a bit impatient in the first half and the second half we changed that. We just reinforced it at half time and we got the result we needed."

It's not been a problem scoring points - it's our defence and discipline that's been a problem

James Ratcliffe

He added: "I'm quite disappointed with some of the things we've done today defensively but going forward we were quite disciplined especially in the second half.

Knights have scored a total of 184 points in their last three games and Ratcliffe knows the next match against Oldham will be a bigger test for the side.

"We've got to go in with a lot of confidence. That's the first time we've put three wins together.

"It's not been a problem scoring points - it's our defence and discipline that's been a problem.

"Today we've only come up with 12 points scored against us and six penalties against us again.

"Once again its easy to go in to the dressing room and say to the lads, 'Look if you keep hold of the ball you don't give away penalties and you're going to get somewhere close to winning the match.'

"Obviously that's shown again today and they can see that's working now so hopefully we'll go in to next week with bags of confidence."
