David March scored for the Knights on his return from injury |
York City Knights scored eleven tries against Blackpool Panthers to record their biggest win of the season. The Knights won their National League Two match 62-6 on Sunday and assistant coach James Ratcliffe was pleased with his side's performance. He told BBC Radio York: "Our go forward's been very good, we've taken the right options on our edges and we've not rushed in to things. "We've had a bit of patience and it's got the result we wanted." Ratcliffe also praised the York defence for showing a big improvement. | I've pulled them down and said let's not forget we've played a team at the wrong end of the division | "Defence wins games, it's not hard to see what it does for you and we've worked very hard defensively this week, after a poor effort in the second half at Gateshead," he said. "We pointed a few fingers, put a few people on the spot this week and they've reacted in the manner we wanted them to. "Its not a witch hunt, it's about making people better and they've responded with the right actions defensively today." The team benefited from having David March and Danny Ratcliffe back from injury while both Adam Mitchell and David Clayton made good debuts. However Ratcliffe warned the players not to get too carried away, despite the result. "I've just gone in there and I've just pulled them down and said basically let's not forget we've played a team at the wrong end of the division. "But to score 11 tries is no mean feat against any rugby league side because a pride in a rugby league player won't allow you to do that."
