March was impressed by Haberecht earlier in the season |
York City Knights have signed Australian-born forward Tom Haberecht until the end of the season. The 22-year old has been released by Castleford Tigers and he could make his debut for the Knights in Sunday's game at Workington. Knights coach Paul March said: "Tom will certainly add some 'go forward' to our pack. "He is strong and mobile and he comes straight to us from a full-time training environment." The Knights had tried to take Haberecht on loan from Castleford earlier this season but the move fell through. Haberecht will provide cover in the second row for the Knights after Rob Kelly was ruled out for the rest of the season. He is due to have an operation after an x-ray confirmed he had broken bones in his hand. Haberecht played against York earlier this year in the Castleford side that played the Knights' academy in the game specially arranged to give Dwaine Chambers a taste of rugby league.
