Jan Ullrich, who was suspended by his team a day before the Tour start, will miss out on the chance to relive some happy memories in Le Creusot for this time trial. The stage start was the home of the German's 1998 stage win.

This is my first Tour de France (live) and my first year in Le Breuil, a small town located between Le Creusot and Montceau les Mines, a direct part of the Tour. It is truly exciting to see the enthusiasm of the spectators who applaud all cyclists (albeit a bit more enthusiastically for the French of course), and to see the intense concentration of the cyclists on this important day of the race.
